Question about Toshiba Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a 13 year-old Toshiba 26HF84 and the tube is taking about 35 minutes to warm up. Is this likely a tube problem or is there a pre-warm-up function that may have failed?

Initially, the tube was "coming on" immediately, and about a month ago it was delayed for about 10 minutes...and incrementally slower. Once the tube is operating, the picture quality is excellent, and all video and audio functions are fine, and are responding to adjustments.

Thank you for the response, rugby prop. Your suggestion may well be correct, but I'll give this app a little time to see what other ideas are percolating.

13 yr old dishwasher suddenly stopped working mid pre wash. Water left in bottom of machine. Power point is fine. Will not start at all now though. No lights turn on either. Is it fixable ?

If it is 13 years old, it has most likely reached its end of life--whatever the cause, something has malfunctioned. However, a service technician would probably be able to advise.

Resolders the FBT-(flyback tranformer).Resolders the video board connections sockets holes, that the board connected to the CRT-(tv tube).Plug in the tv,to have power to the tv,take out the tv video board, for exposer of the CRT-(tv tube).Take an electrical wire with a good insalation in it,grounded to the tv steel frame some where.Take the other end of the wire go toward the open high voltage CRT-(tv tube).U will hear a pop sound, than ur tv CRT-(tv tube) is a 100% clean out of contaminations or u will hear a deeing sounds only, mean the tv CRT-(tv tube) it is to old to pop anymore, just let tv deeing sounds going on for like about 20 mins to rejuvenated the old CRT-(tv tube). After this repluging the tv video board for a tv signal and readjust the button on the FBT-(flyback tranformer) that said focus to fix the CRT-(tv tube) focus problems.

Your picture tube is on its last leg. Best enjoy the old girl while you can. This would be way more expensive to repair than it is worth if you can still find a tube for this set. That has been a good set to last that long. Not too many of them left out there. Thanks for using fixya.

Projection television acting like an old picture tube TV.

Yes, I used to work in Best Buy and one of the key things about rear projection TVs and the reason they push those service plans on you is that the tubes/colors need to be calibrated each year. You can do this yourself by checking out the following website:

FADING COLORS

After 13 years, the most likely cause is a tired picture tube. There are adjustments that can be made to address this, but they would be short lived. Rather than spend money on this set, put it toward a replacement. After 13 years, the set owes you nothing.
