For 6=a/4+2, a/4=6-2, so a/4=4, so 16/4=4, so a=16

There is nothing to solve for: no unknown variable.

13 2/9-4 5/6=13-4 +(2/9-5/6)=9 +(4/18-15/18)=9 -3/18

Now write 9-3/18=8+18/18-11/18=8+(18-11/18=

8 7/18

13 2/9-4 5/6=13-4 +(2/9-5/6)=9 +(4/18-15/18)=9 -3/18

Now write 9-3/18=8+18/18-11/18=8+(18-11/18=

8 7/18

Use the quadratic formula or completing the square.

Completing the square:

x^2 -13x=-36

x^2-2*(13/2) +(13/2)^2=-36+(13/2)^2

The left side can be factored as (x-13/2)^2.

The right side is (13^2-36*4)/4=(169-144)/4=25/4

Assembling the two sides

(x-13/2)^2=25/4

Taking the square roots x-13/2=+ or - 5/2

Case 1 : x-13/2=+ 5/2.

Solving for x you get the first root as x=(5+13)/2=18/2=9

Case 2 : x-13/2=-5/2.

Solving for x, you get the other root as x=(13-5)/2=8/2=4.

The roots are x1=9, and x2=4

well if 4/5 x = 6, then 5/5 would equal?? 7.5. 6/4 = 1.5 unit for each One. therefore 1.5 (Value of one) multiplied by 5, for 5/5 or a whole = 1.5 x 5 = 7.5.

Hi,

**You can use algebra to solve it.**

Use the fact that 4 =2^2 and 8=2^3 and substitute in the equation

(2^3)^x =2^(3*x)

Then** 2^(3*x)=2^2**

By equating the exponents

3x=2 and**x=2/3**

**Using the solve( function**

With the calculator physical keys between square brackets, and the SHIFTed or ALPHA keys between parentheses, type in the following

8 [^ ] [ALPHA] [ ) ] (X) [ALPHA][CALC] ( =) 4 [SHIFT][CALC] (SOLVE)

Once the foregoing command entered press [=]

Display shows**Solve for X** on top line and probably **0.000** on bottom line.

Press [.] 5 to give 0.5 as a guess for the value of x

After a moment the calculator returns with the solution.

The display shows three lines

1st Line: 8[^] X =4

2nd Line: X= 0.66666666

3rd Line : L-R =0.

Your solution is 0.6666666. In fact the exact solution is 2/3.

Hope it helps.

the problem is you haven't given it anything to solve...

always add a comma and the variable after any solve, differentiate or intergrate problem...

eg:

solve(x^2=4) is wrong!

intead put:

solve(x^2=4, x)

Hope this helps
