Compatibility of sewing machine feet

If the width of both machines' presser feet are the same, the only thing you need to worry about is the shank and the form of attachment the shank has to the machine.

According to this, the feet may be compatible:
Generic Presser Feet Accessories
You'll need to verify that the shanks are the same between both machines. Perhaps the Juki dealer can tell you if the feet are compatible.

However, if the presser feet are not compatible with both machines, you can purchase an snap-on adapter shank for the Juki and pick up a kit of snap-on presser feet (these are generic, not Juki made) and you will be set to go for very little outlay of finances. In addition, you could pick up a snap-on adapter for the Husqvarna and you would be able to use the snap-on feet on both machines (in case you don't have some feet for your existing machine).

Brother sewing machine LX 2500

Walking feet attach much the same way on most machines. They can be boogers the first couple of times. It helps to tilt the foot and guide it toward the needlebar from the side in order to get the fork (if your foot has a fork--some just have a bar that sets on top of the needleclamp screw) around the needleclamp screw. In cases of extreme frustration, I've removed the needleclamp screw and then reattached it once the foot is in place.

Just use patience. If frustrated, walk away. Whatever, do not force or bend the foot in order to install.

Quilting need to know if high, low or slant shank Also sew horizontoally or vertically. Ty

Here's a handy guide for presser feet:

http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/sewing-machine-presser-feet.aspx

Horizontal or vertical? A sewing machine generally sews from the front toward the back (the front being where you would sit). If you use the Reverse, then it would sew from back to front.

If you are darning or doing free motion quilting, you would first drop the feed dogs, attach a darning foot, and you would move the fabric by hand in any direction you choose.

are you needing a quilting foot for the brother sewing machine?
some sewing machine do use universal parts and some don't.
it really depends on the name of the sewing machine and the model
number. some parts you can get from a sewing machine's part
store and others you have to go thru a dealer.

Have brother sewing machine sc9500. Need invisible zipper foot. Don't know which kind to get.

My invisible zipper foot is a plastic generic one which was describd as being "low shank" and it works fine on three different Elnas I own.

I would have thought your machine was a low shank style too, there is a fair bit of similarity between feet with low shank clip on style. So if your feet clip on and off the shank, then you should be able to clip on another type of foot too.

if you try this link http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/sewing-machine-presser-feet.aspx

then go through to the page for the foot attachment system that looks like yours you might be able to establish which one you need. THere is a brother high shank invisble foot listed, and an alternative part number. I jcan't see a Brother SC9500 machine listed so you might need to do a bit of elimination.

You could also email sewingpartsonline.com and ask them to help you identify the right foot.

I would suggest that you start by going to this page http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/eu/eu_ot/en/doc/manual_index.html?reg=eu&c=eu_ot&lang=en&prod=hf_bm36002700euk&type2=-1&flang=English&dlid= and downloading a manual, and printing it to have next to your machine. There is also some good tips and instructions on this page http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/eu/eu_ot/en/faq/faq_top.htm?reg=eu&c=eu_ot&lang=en&prod=hf_bm36002700euk

In terms of different sewing machine feet, there is some good information on this page, http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/2009/06/feet-feet-feet/ or you could go to the local library and see what books they have, Singer do several good "Sewing Machine" guides but there are lots on the market.

And if you need some inspiration I love visiting www.patternreview.com, a website where lots of sewers contribute their thoughts and experiences making up a wide range of commercial patterns, plus sewing machines and overlocker reviews. Its really worth the membership fee as you can have your own stash of patterns saved, a wishlist and get newsletters. Burda also have a great website www.burdastyle.com, I love buying their magazine as each one has 20 or more patterns and they are so on style.

Lastly, www.sewing.about.com, Debbie is a wonderful source of all sorts of sewing information, I visit her pages often. She shows lots of techniques and gives good cleaning and maintenance info too.

Good luck with your Brother, I'm on the Gold Coast and have a Spotlight 2kms away but drive past it to The Fabric Store or Fabric Frenzy, local independents, much better service. I bought my Janome from there - I've rung her lots of times and been very happy with the service and repairs they provide.

I need a pressfoot for my sewing machines and where to buy one

Hi! I've found a few presser feet at Handcock's and my local quilt shop. Brother dealers will also have pressure feet for your machine. Brother dealers in your area are BOB MCDOUGAL SEWING MACHINE CO.
1301 YALE STREET
HOUSTON , TX 77008
713-864-2601

and
SEW CONTEMPO
18203 EGRET BAY BLVD
HOUSTON , TX 77058
281-333-5322

The folks at Sew Contempo are really nice, but I'm sure the ones at Bob McDougal's place are too. I just have never dealt with them.
Happy Sewing!
