SOURCE: Craftsman lawn tractor model new battery drains quickly...

it could be the stator in the engine check the voltage with the volt meter when its running if its low check connections on battery & voltage if its below 12.5 volts then its the stator but the only thing is the engine should run with-out the battery so there is something else going on there is a fuse in the electrical system if theres a short that fuse will blow & engine will stall

Most all manufacturers have the Users Manuel available on line you will need the Make and Model to pick the correct one. Have you replaced the battery. It can show the correct voltage but have no cranking amps. I believe if the solenoid is trying to engage the Dead Man switches are closed. With the starter disconnected from all power sources do the teeth on the starter turn or are they locked up? If they refuse to move do you have an Auto Zone around or another parts store or electrical engine repair store that can test the starter. Make sure the mowing deck is not engaged while you are trying to start the engine. I hope these rudimentary suggestions help.

The alternator is built into the starter. Check with a volt meter to see if you have at least +13v while mower engine is running. Could be a bad battery.

My mower wont start...i replaced the battery and it just clicks

Have a friend jump start the mower while you a seated on it. Turn the key to the "on" position. Connect the black jumper cable from a known good battery to a good ground on the mower and the red cable directly to the electrical connection of the starter. If the starter does not engage, it is faulty.

Craftmans 3000dlt ride on mower can't start it up all it does is click click changed the selenoid and starter still click click Ammeter runs to negitive when i try to start it and it's a brand new battery...

The starter itself may be bad. Take the starter off, connect it to the battery on the mower with jumping cables + to + and - to battery and ground other to starter. It should spin as if it was going to start the mower. You may have to try different places on the starter for a good ground. If the starter spins, then it's not the starter, but binding. If it was electrical such as seat switch or blade switch it would still turn over but not start. With the starter clicking, it sounds to me that the solenoid is fine.

I have a white lawn tractor and i just change the battery and the spark plug and it wont start . I also have current to my switch to start but no current to the starter . Could you solve this.

do you have power from the switch to the starter solenoid ? What you should have is a battery lead going to the starter relay / solenoid. a battery lead coming from the relay / solenoid to the starter and a 12 or 14 gauge wire coming from the switch to the relay solenoid. Depending on the age of the machine this wire may actually go direct to the solenoid or it may have to go through a couple of safety switches. the first thing I would check is make sure you have power coming out of the starter switch to the start circuit. The terminal on the switch is usually marked with an s for starter / solenoid. If you have power coming out from here then trace this wire to either a safety switch or relay solenoid, keep checking for 12 vdc until you dont have power and you will either find the problem or the bad part... hope this helps you
