I think your mixture may be a bit too lean or too rich... have a play with the mixture screw but only using tiny increments 1/8 of a turn - bit of trial and error involved thats all...
Good Luck

You should only use choke until you get a turn over. After that, turn off choke and it should start right up.

Overhaul the carb. When you have to choke it to run, there is not enough fuel getting in

How to start the generator

Hi Joe, I had asked for a little clarification and have not received any information. I will answer this question based on the generator is in good working order and it is a recoil start. Open the petcock, (this is the fuel valve) and give it about a minute to fill the fuel bowl on the carburetor. If your generator has an engine an on/off kill switch, set to on. If the generator has an auto idle switch set it to off. If the engine has a throttle lever located under the carburetor, push it all the way down (full throttle). Pull the choke knob out completely, there is a detent on the choke for half choke, pull it past this for full choke. pull the recoil starter rapidly. As soon as the engine starts running push the choke knob to half choke, this will allow the engine to run smooth while it's warming up. Depending on the climate that you are in, warm up time will vary. After a minute or two in cold climates start pushing the choke knob in, if it starts to run poorly pull it back out too the half position and let it warm up some more. When you can posh the choke in without the engine faltering it is ready to go. In warmer climates you might be able to start the engine without the choke or in the halfway position. Robin Subaru makes some of the finest small engines available. I would choose a Robin over a Honda every time. I hope this gets your generator going, and once again this is based on the generator being in good working order. Good luck, Michael Burke.

I own a 5000 watt generators the problem is generator starts with choke on however as soon as i start closing the choke generator shuts down, any ideal on how to correct

Get a can of carburetor cleaner. Drain the gas. Mix small quantity of fresh gas & carb cleaner about 50/50. Run a little through (it might not start, but crank it enough to get some solution through the carb.) If it runs, that's great, run about half of your solution then turn it off for an hour. Then run the rest through. If it won't start, then after the hour add a bit of fresh gas to make the remaining solution about 90% gas and run this through By the way, running the carb cleaner through the air intake will not fix this problem, because the gumming of gas is in the fuel line, float valve, needle valve - not in the air stream. Running carb cleaner through the air intake is useful if the throttle is sticking.. Good luck, Vote if you found this helpful, Al K

I have a coleman powermate premium plus 6250 generator, put in new plug ,new filter ,changed oil, cleaned the carb, put in new gas. runs ok at half choke but when go full choke it starts backfiring and runs...

if you are running the engine at full CHOKE, then it is flooding the engine, but if you meant off full choke, then the carb is still stopped up. Try soaking in carb cleaner overnight after removing jet & all rubber goods. HOPE THIS HELPS.

Honda 2000 eu runs only at half choke once you shut choke all the way off it stalls

These motors have a heat automated choke release system and when it gets hot enough the choke will back off if the ports in the carb are clean and not blocked...if they are blocked clean the carb out real good.

It starts fine and runs on choke but not off choke

It sounds like you are not getting enough gas. I think it's the diaphragm, When you take it off of the choke diaphragm controls the gas flow, apparently yours is just shutting down. It's very inexpensive, and very easy to replace. Good Luck :)
