Whoa, that stinks..... I think that is the first problem I have seen with those t-stats... they are very dependable....

I would take out the batteries and let it die for about a day....I think it takes that long for the capacitors to fully discharge... Don't know what you will do for heat while your doing that, unless you know how to jumper the furnace... R-W on the circuit board will get you heat....
Then reinstall the batteries and the t-stat and see if it comes back....

Oh and make sure you also leave it off of the wall so it don't get power from the furnace either... you want it to completely die... then you will have to reprogram it... so I hope you still have the manual...

I have a ritetemp 8082C, how do I open it to replace the batteries?

To replace the batteries in the Ritetemp 8082C thermostat, first switch the Mode switch to Off and the Fan switch to Auto (if they aren't currently in that state). Press up on the catch on the bottom of the thermostat and swing the body of the thermostat away from the back plate on the wall. The lift up to remove the body of the thermostat from the base. Turn the body of the thermostat over to see the battery compartment at the top of the back of the thermostat.

This is shown in the installation manual in different sections. Removing the body is shown on page 3 (page 4 of the PDF). Changing the batteries is shown on page 6 (page 7 of the PDF). Ritetemp has the manual here: .

I hope this helps.

Hello, If my batterys go dead on my ritetemp thermostat model 8050c will I lose my program?

I believe it has a limited memory back up but yes you likely will. Does your tstat require batteries or are they there as a backup?

My Honeywell thermostat won't set the heat above 75 degrees

ok fist thing is to press and hold the middle lower button and the arrow up at the same time and hold until the screen changes to a number. keep hitting next until you see 75 appear then arrow up to the temp you want and press done. That easy!
