I also had a similar problem with my maytag dryer which is 3 1/2 years old. It was the idler lever assembly with pulley. The part number is 11222607JG and the cost is about $20.00. Hope this helps.
sounds like you have a cloged vent i normally get a few calls in the winter timer for this problem because the vent is clogged outside due to the snow remove your vent try the dryer to see if it dries if yes check your vent
