I found one manual for the Atlas Selectomatic for sale on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/158109125/pink-atlas-selectomatic-sewing-machine?ref=shop_home_active . (This person had another Atlas manual on Etsy but that has sold.)

If your machine is a mechanical model (Not computerized), how long has it been since it has been cleaned and oiled? If it is mechanical, perhaps the old oil has solidified and is preventing things from moving. Consult your owner's manual and use ONLY fresh good quality sewing machine oil. You'll need to oil the internal mechanical parts--slowly handrotate the handwheel and watch where metal rubs metal and place 2 drops of oil. Also, look for small holes that are oil ports. Do NOT oil rubber or plastic parts or belts.

Hello Shirlene, If your Kenmore machine has two drive belts, a belt from the motor to an idler pulley and a belt from the idler pulley to the main shaft. I have found that the idler pulley needs some Teflon grease on the idler pulley shaft. On my machine, the squeak would go away for a while if I oiled this idler pulley shaft. But it was short lived. Only grease on the idler pulley shaft would silence the squeak.
