As long as there is a connection to the PC by a cable on some that goes from the monitor to the PC or is inbuilt in the monitor connector. Check WINDOWS Ctrl Panel SOUND and see what speakers it think it has installed and selevct appropriately. Also check that they are not MUTED increase the slide to MAX and remove the X from the box that mutes them

I got a vg930m veiwsonic monitor and i try playin music and doing other tasks and i get no sound out of the built in speakers do i need a audio cord to get sound or what do i do

Yes many monitors (with the exception of some HDMI connections) require a separate cable to connect audio to the built in speakers on the monitor. I hope this answers your question.

No sound

no if external speakers work that means that the sound card is absolutely fine>
now let me tell u the computer itself doesnt have any in built speakers>
either u connect external speakers or the monitor that u use should have speakers built with it> then u connect the monitor to the computer then also use a thin sound cable from the monitor to the back of the computer on the green port

No sound listening to music and audio stopped

Tape monitor is it on? Muting? How old is this unit? Does speaker relay click on secoinds after unit powers on? If relay does not click probably output problem. Try disconnecting speaker wires to see if relay will click. If it does click the suspect bad wire or speaker if not bad amp. The first step to diag is to diconnect everything and simplify the citems needed to get sound. 1 Known good signal source and cable, Minimum affects, check speaker switch, Known good wire and 1 speaker to front l or r terminal. iIf still know sound seek serv.

Built in speakers

I'd guess there is a jack socket 'audio in' somewhere on the montitor, probably on the back. (Don't confuse it with the headphone socket, which usually looks the same.) Connect it with a 3,5" stereo jack-jack cable to your PC's audio output.

Powerpoint 2007 get sound from one monitor to another

Some monitors have speakers built-in, some don't. The sound never travels through the 15pin d-type VGA connector. If the monitor has sound, there will be a small 1/8 inch stereo jack in the back or bottom of the monitor. Most all laptops have a headphone output jack (again 1/8 inch stereo) which is perfect for patching to external amplified speakers or to a monitor with speakers built-in. This patch cable can be purchased at Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc etc.

Installed new monitor, lost my sound

If your previous monitor had built in speakers and your new monitor does not you are going to have to purchase new speakers. If your new lcd monitor has an audio input you can purcahse a sterio mini jack cable for under $10 at any store that sells computer stuff (circuit city, best buy, walmart, target, etc). Simply plug one end into your monitor and the other end into your computers audio output jack (usually color coded green). Now of course if that monitor does not have built in speakers your only option is to purcahse a set of speakers for the computer. These usually start at around $15.
