Question about Sanyo Televison & Video
I did A LOT of research after experiencing the same exact problem with the same tv. This tv does not have inverter boards it has an LED driver and its on the main power supply board. I was able to get a power supply board online for $24 (with a 2y warranty). I have never repaired a tv before but what I found out is this: If you have a steady green power light, sound, and can faintly see the menu when a flashlight is shinned in the tv, then its more then likely either the led driver (on the power supply board), or the LED lights in the tv. I do not have a voltage reader so Im using my best guess based on what ive read/learned online. I just replaced the power supply board the other day. It was easy but i guess that was not the problem (or the board i just paid for is bad). So it has to be the LED lights. Due to the power supply working, and the menu showing up....the main board and t-con board should be good. There are only so many parts in this tv! lol. I think the LED's are around $20-$50. STILL..even if that is the problem i just paid $44-$74 for a tv that i payed $350 for new. Not bad. If this turns out not to be the problem...i can return the parts and keep searching for the right fix. I am stuck right now though at trying to figure out how to get to the LED lights. This thing is more locked down then fort knox..lol. There are VERY LITTLE threads, posts, etc out there on THIS specific tv: Sanyo 42in hdtv DP42D23. So I cant even get instructions on how to get it apart. I got the back and speakers off. I think there are tiny black pegs keeping the tv frame on? Wish me luck! Lol.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.
