I have an older Rainbow d3 series vacuum. One day while running, the hose sucked onto something and I heard a pop. On checking I found that the separator had broken. I replaced it with a new one. When I started the vacuum it ran great for about 3 mins. until I again heard a pop. The separator had broken again. Any idea what could be causing this and what to do to fix it?

My Rainbow SE works and runs strong but when I switch it on and off the motor seams to make a loud squealing noise. Do I need to oil something or what? Thanks

something loose underneath the separator?

there is a nut under the separator that may be loose. or possibly the screws holding the motor housing have come loose putting it off center.
