I woulod think the data is corrupted or not in ther format the GPS is expecting. redownload the data to the PC desktop and see how it is organised

You have to plug in the GPS to your computer and if there is an update file from www.nextar.com's support area, then you run the executable file and will update the firmware on the unit. There are no new maps. If you can't find your model on Nextar's site, you'll have to contact them - but normally, no model number listed means no new updates. Nextar's support is pretty flaky right now. They're not as big a company as TomTom or Magellan. And they do not make their own maps - they get them from another company called Navteq.
