SOURCE: 5 flashing light code, unplug CR board, now 8 flashing light code

If you put the "CR" board back on, the error code will once again be 5 blinks. Your problem is likely the TV's IK blanking circuit. The Kine driver ICs on the CRT sockets boards CR, CB, and CG need replacement along with a few components in the 200 volt supply to the circuit.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

TH42PZ85U Panasonic that will turn on for a couple of seconds, not even long enough for picture, then it shuts off. Red power light blinks 2 times with about 3 seconds in between the 2 blinks. I am...

1. Reseating the connector P25 may solve the problem. If it does not.
2.Right before the unit shuts down, check the VSUS voltage at connector P2 of the power supply. If VSUS voltage measures zero volt, disconnect the connector P2 and SS11. Check the VSUS level at socket P2. If it is still low, replace the P board.
3. Unplug the unit andd disconnect the connectors A5, A6, and A7. Apply power to the TV. If a White screen comes up and all voltages check normal, replace the P board.
4. If the TV stays on after isolating the SC board, then replace the SC board and the D board; it is likely that the fuse on the D board is blown

Unplug main cable from power supply to sc (bd on left) then plug in and try power long enough to see if stays on.. that would prove the sc sustain bd. is bad. If not suspect d bd.

The red light in front was blinking.the repair man said it was the power board. We replaced it , now the red light blinks 6 times then quits. There is no picture but when on you can here the sound.

A 6 blink SOS shutdown, you would want to be looking at the SC, SU and the SD boards. One of those boards is causing the malfunction. Possibly, but unlikly(I have to mention it for just in case reasons) the PDP panel could have blown those boards.

Just out of curiosity, what was the original problem that made you call the first repair guy?
