If your Quantum Stylist 9960 sewing machine stops in the middle of a stitch and displays a message about the foot pedal, it's likely due to a connection issue with the foot pedal. Check the foot pedal's cable and connection to ensure it's securely plugged in. If the problem persists, consider cleaning the foot pedal's sensor or contact the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance.
Install brand new needle(s). Make sure the needle eye is the appropriate size for the thread you are using. Check that the needle is the correct type for the fabric & thread, ie coarse (abrasive) fabric would benefit from the protection of a top stitch needle which has a larger scarf.
Sometimes the thread is being held back in the thread path causing the needle to wear and shred the thread. Check that the upper tension is correct. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread. Make sure the upper thread follows the correct path and that it is not threaded incorrectly or looped around the spool pin or a thread guide.
Your machine could be out of time. When you turn on does it stop or stitch a couple switches. Belt could be worn out as well. How old is it? Thank you very much. Please leave some feedback or more information so I may help you.
