Question about Dell 926 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Dell printer 962 ALL-in-one won't recognize the new ink cartridge

When I replaced the black ink cartridge with a remanufactured one, it did not recognize it, but we continued to print. It kept telling us the ink is low, we need to order a new cartridge, but allowed us to 'continue anyway'. Finally, it would not print at all. I called Dell, but was only told to unplug it, try again, and clean the cartridge head, make sure there is ink. We put in another remanufactured one, same thing. Once in a while, I could get it to print. Then I got a new cartridge direct from Dell, it still does the same thing. It will not copy or print. It feeds the paper through and it sounds like it is printing, but the paper is blank. Part of the time, it says the left (or right, which is color) cartridge is not correct.

Check and make sure that the cartridges are secure. This can cause the above issues that you are experiencing. Another thing to keep in mind is to consider if the room you have the printer in, is not extremely hot. We had this issue with a lexmark all in one and it was the temperature in the room. One final thing, you can uninstall and reinstall the software for your printer. This may also be an issue if it was recently updated or hasn't been updated in awhile. Let me know if this works for you.

SOURCE: Dell 962

I removed the colour cartridge which was causing the error 'right cartridge incorrect' and it then allowed me to print in black ink - I think ruiman must be right - it's problem with the colour cartridge not the printer. My printer is the 922 though, not 962.

Thanks ruiman :-)

Hey do a power drain by removing all the cables from the rear of the printer and then hold the power button on the printer of 15-20seconds with all the cable out connecting the printer... Then power on the printer if you still see the error code message displayed on the printer display screen do a nozzle clean in the computer, check on if the printer prints the nozzle clean test page perfectly. If not remove the cartridges and clean the nozzle of the cartridges with a clean cloth and be careful so that you do not destroy the copper contacts, clean the same you see on the carrier(where you place on the cartridges). I think this should work.
If not call in technical support.

Dev,
Printer Technician.

SOURCE: A960 All in One Printer not working with color cartridge

My new black ink cartridge wasn't working at all. I sprayed the cartridge with windex and let soak for a minute. I wiped dry with paper towel and there was black ink on my towel unlike before. The windex unclogged it and it worked like new!

SOURCE: Dell 926 won't recognize new color cartridge

Try this...shut down the printer. Insert new cartridge, let the printer cycle out with new cartridge. then reboot the computer. This should solve the problem. The cache in the printer will not cycle out. It wants to see the printer as a new entity

Black cartridge is new. registers low ink level and does not print at all.

Unplug the printer from the wall. Noe remove the power brick from the printer for 60 seconds. This will reset any error message the printer is getting. Plug the printer back in.

Turn on the printer. Open up the printer and take out the black cartridge and reseat it. Do the same for the color cartridge. Now close the printer and it will print an alignment page. Any error messages?

If you still get the error message, then it's possible that the sensor in the Dell Series 5 ink cartridge is bad. If this is a new Dell Series 5 ink cartridge, then take it back to the place of purchase for a replacement or refund.

Can you copy a document, when you put it under the glass? B&W and color?

If so, then it is a driver issue. Try reinstalling the printer by following the instructions located at...

Dell Photo 926 printer will not print with the black ink and tells me that the cartridge is incompatible even though there is ink in the cartridge and i got it from dell

Do you have a '926' or a '962' printer? You've cited each number in your problem description.

Remove the ink cartridge.
Turn the printer off.
Turn the printer on.
Reinsert the ink cartridge.

If the problem persists, contact Dell, and get them to replace it.

Dell 942 AIO printer cartridge problem

Was your replacement cartridge a new dell product? If it was, the sensor on the prnter should recognize it as new and reset the indicator to full. If, however, the cartridge was refilled, remanufactured, or otherwise an off brand, the ink indicator will show it to be empty. Just ignore and use the printer as normal -- it will print just fine, but you may need to press the select button to get it to start printing the first page.

Ink Cartridge

Lexmark/Dell info
Before you buy a remanufactured Lexmark or Dell inkjet cartridge please carefully read and understand the following:
The more recent ranges of remanufactured colour Lexmark and Dell ink cartridges have been remarkably unreliable - the failure rate being massively higher than all other remanufactured goods we supply. Our remanufactured HP's, Canon, and older Lexmark/Dell ranges remain very reliable.
At seems almost certain the micro-electronics in these cartridges have been developed in the factory to ensure failure at a given point. THE MODELS MOST LIKELY TO CAUSE PROBLEMS ARE THE LEXMARK No1, No2, No3, No29, No33, No35 and No43, AND THE DELL MODELS TO FIT PRINTERS 922/924/942/944/962/964 and Dell printers sold in the last 12 months. For some reason the problems seem to be with colour cartridges - black units remain reliable.
On the reverse of a brand new Lexmark 29 colour cartridge box (in print so small it's almost impossible to read) it says: "THE PATENTED PRINT CARTRIDGE CONTAINED INSIDE IS LICENSED FOR A SINGLE USE ONLY AND IS DESIGNED TO STOP WORKING AFTER DELIVERING A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF INK. A VARIABLE AMOUNT OF INK WILL REMAIN IN THE CARTRIDGE WHEN REPLACEMENT IS REQUIRED." In plain English this means the cartridge will certainly fail - even when there is ink inside.
Although this is not printed on the boxes of certain other models, the high failure rate suggests similar technology is deployed. A perfectly good remanufactured cartridge can be installed, and used - albeit temporarily. Suddenly and without explanation, an error message "UNSUPPORTED CARTRIDGE" appears, and the cartridge refuses to work ever again. Most will almost certainly end up in landfill.
