SOURCE: Whirlpool icemaker

Your unit has infered sensors on the frezzer left and right walls. There is a diagnostic test sheet brown in color in your kick plate. All you have to do is open frezzer door look on the right sensor it should blink twice followed by a 1-2 sec delay,if that is good press in flapper door on right sensor do not block path of infered beam you will not see a beam its invisable.Once you hold in flapper on right sensor the led should be solid. If solid optics are good if not solid led replace optic sensors

SOURCE: No Ice & no chilled water from frig.

First off does this model have a water filter if so...and if it is old and or full of filtered material the water will not dispense anywhere.

Ok...the way to test for power is obviously with meter you can easily check the solenoid leading to the inside of the frig by exposing where the connectors attach to the solenoid...but do not remove them completely you should have a continual 110/120 v supply...someone at the front of the unit can depress the dispenser and you will hear the solenoid activate...if it does not...the same should apply for the ice maker solenoid...unless it is activated by the timer (electrically) and not mechanically (which it usually is) if you are getting voltage to both of these....and you have voltage to the primary solenoid...(which you may not) if you do not have a filter...and both of the other valves stopped working at the same time..(which would be rare). Then there may be an electrical problem in general. Also you can check to see if the firdge is cold enough to make ice by manually filling the Ice maker with water...it should freeze in under 4 hours and dump the ice also...if it does...them it lies in an electrical problem in general or electrical problem to the primary solenoid. Also do you have hard water....as it may be posible for calcium deposits to accumulate at the valve inlets...and often there are tiny screens in place here also. Check for water continuity at the valves if possible.

I hope this helps....good luck and get back to me and we can go from what you find out.....please rate me.... the Fang

SOURCE: ICEMAKER NOT WORKING NEW WATER LINE

Ice maker must be on(arm up) .If the ice maker is turning and not getting water probably the solenoid valve is bad or the line between the valve and the ice maker is broken or frozen, if its frozen the valve is leaking and needs to be replace. For the ice maker to work the freezer must be working fine (freezing )But if everything is ok and the ice maker still dead(not turning) check if it's plugged in,right behind it and if this is ok the ice maker inside board is bad ,but replacing it is probably better to get a new one.

Hi,
Have you had the chance to check the fill tube to the ice maker, if that fill tube is frozen, not water will enter the ice maker.
Check there and get back to me, I have other tests we check the system for if needed.
Thanks for your time

ICE MAKER NOT WORKING

Good day!!!!

The water filter may be plugged with sediment, or you may have low water pressure. The water pressure for icemakers needs to be at least 40 psi, and up to about 120 psi for proper operation. Water filters need to be changed every six months. If you would like to test your water pressure, we have an Icemaker Water Flow Tester available from our website. This will help you to determine if the water pressure at the supply line is high enough for the icemaker to function properly. To determine if your filter is plugged, look for water both before and after the filter. It may be hard to determine if there is water flowing through the filter. Sometimes it is necessary to pull the filter out of the feed line to see if water is flowing from the exit of the filter into the refrigerator or freezer. You can do this over a bucket to catch any dripping water. Some models have a filter bypass plug to help determine if the filter is clogged. If so, you would remove the filter and replace it with the filter bypass plug. Now test your water flow.
If your refrigerator has a water dispenser, you can hold a large cup or glass under it for 20 seconds. You should have poured about 13-14 oz. of water in that 20 seconds. If the amount is less, try removing the filter and bypassing it. If you now get the 13-14 oz. of water, the filter was clogged and it's time to replace it. If not, you have low water pressure in the line, and your icemaker may not work properly.
On occasion, the water inlet tube will freeze where it enters the icemaker. This can happen because the water is dripping slowly, or the freezer is just set too cold. A hair blow dryer can be used to thaw this, but be careful around the plastic tubing. You don't want it to crack or deform. You may want to turn the thermostat up a little bit if this is a regular occurrence. If you have a constant, regular drip, you may want to invest in a new water fill valve.
Another reason that your icemaker may not be making ice is the bail arm along the side of the icemaker. This arm must be in the lowered position for the icemaker to operate. If the arm is stuck up, it has shut the unit off. This is a safety feature of the unit. Normally, if there's too much ice in the bin, the arm will get stuck in the raised position and keep any more water from entering the icemaker. You must lower the arm to begin making more ice.

I hope this solution will be helpful...

Thanks for using fixya and don't forget to rate and write a testimonial if it is work..

The water works but the icemaker does not. What could be keeping water from reaching the cube tray?

I'm going on the presumption that there are no ice cubes in the mold. If there are ice cubes in the icemaker mold, then none of this is relevant and it probably isn't a water problem.
If the icemaker's ice mold is empty (no ice cubes since they've already dumped) and there is no water getting to it, there are a couple of possible problems.
The first and easiest is that the water line is frozen. The place to check this is the at the tube above the back of the icemaker where the water comes in. They have been known to freeze up there or at the elbow on the back of the freezer. If this is the case, you can thaw it with a hair dryer. That bend and tube going down to the ice mold is the only place it will freeze up. If you have to cut the manufacturer's pressed on clamp to remove it to thaw it, you can replace it with a small hose clamp.
If all that is clear, the next choice is the water valve to the icemaker is stopped up or bad. When the icemaker cycles, it should hear it kick and the water flow. Looking from the back of the fridge, it is usually in the lower left corner...just follow the water line in from the wall. If it is a "water in the door" model, then there will be two water valves down there. The line to the door will go under the unit, the line to the icemaker heads straight up.
If the unit isn't cycling at all, it is probably a problem in the control module.
Hope this helps

Ice is not being made. How can I get the ice to start being made?

Start with the most basic. Is the right amount of flow getting to the unit? First check. On most units from the door with a water dispenser. You should get app. 8 oz. in 10 seconds. If not, remove water line from unit. Turn water back on with line in a bucket. If just a stream then supply valve is bad even if it is new. If not reconnect line and check water output from first water valve that line connects to. Just unhook line from that valve that supplies water to the water filter to see if flow is there. If so then other than kinked lines then filter or secondary valve in door. Can cycle icemaker. Press and hold button on ice maker. If water is good. Icemaker defective. Replaced many.

No water in the ice maker

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into icemaker . If it freezes and dumps , and water doesn't go into icemaker , replace the water inlet valve ( the piece on the refrig that the wall waterline connects to . If it doesn't dump the water poured into it after freezing , then replace the icemaker .

Water leaks inside unit wher selenoid calls for water

The fill tube that goes into the water cup of the icemaker make sure its in with a clip on the cup to hold it downwards. Sometimes the clip is off and the tube sprays out of the icemaker. Also check to see if flakes are in the ice. That would mean that the teflon is peeling off and forcing the water out of the icemaker.

Ice maker was making ice now water seems to be spraying all over freezer instead of going into maker

Have you changed the water filter as this regulates water pressure to the icemaker? is there ice left/stuck in the maker leaving the water no place to go (normally caused when the icemakers element dies)? If so you need a new freezer Ice maker unit. this unit is plug in and only three screws holding it in so this is the easy fix, but not that cheap. cheers

No ice from icemaker of Kenmore Elite model 106

I just resolved an issue with my kenmore elite side by side refrigerator icemaker (model 106).
It was expensive because I took the long road to fixing the unit myself.

My problem: No water going up to the freezer water dispenser into the icemaker but the water in front of the door working just fine.

-first thing i tried was the simplest. The Internet is clogged with this miracle fix of using a hair dryer to melt the frozen water line going to the dispenser output. This is highly unlikely for our model since the water line is protected within the refrigerator frame.

-2nd thing I replaced my water filter (thinking that there wasn't enough water pressure to trigger the solenoid valve. $40, and still no luck.

-3rd thing was I tested for voltage going to the solenoid. No voltage going to solenoid, so I wasted $30 for a new solenoid.....still no water.

-4th thing was I ordered a new IR sensor and receiver (since the reciever end is where the relay that sends the voltage to the solenoid to turn on and allow water to go up to the dispenser).
My IR sender and receiver appeared to be working flakey.
Installed, still no water. $58 BUCKS ON EBAY (EVERYWHERE ELSE $100+)

-I finally removed the freezer front little white door, I TURNED OFF THE FREEZER SWITCH SO NO VOLTAGE WAS PRESENT, removed the release latch underneath the freezer unit and disconnected, and removed the freezer unit to inspect it further.
When I removed the protective white cover that covers the mechanical wheel, I had a few parts come flying out of it. Turns out that the wheel accessories were damaged. THERE ARE NO REPAIRABLE PARTS ON THE FREEZER UNIT. I FOUND ONE ON EBAY FOR $39 BUCKS + $9 SHIPPING! $48 BUCKS, SWAPPED THE HARNESS AND BOTTOM COVER, AND IN 20 MINUTES, I WAS BACK IN BUSINESS. STARTED MAKING ICE IN ABOUT A HALF HOUR!!!!!

when in doubt, replace the freezer unit for $48 bucks! 7 out of 10 times it will fix your problems. All techs replace the IR set at the same time too which will set you back another $58 bucks.
Good luck! ;)

Kenmore fridge icemaker doesn't work after move

Try using an hairdryer or defrosting the unit completely , this often get rid of blockage caused by frozen lines fixing the problem.

The water lines can also be unblocked from dirt using a thin flexible shaft. This after defrosting.

If all that does not fix the problem, then you may need to replace the water valve, the icemaker solenoid, or the whole icemaker assembly.
