What do you mean by loading up with grass
it is a walk behind or ride on mower
does it have a rear catcher or big carry bag as on ride on mower
more information would be helpful when you repost with all the details

My mower not bagging the grass

Do this with the lawn mower off of course!
Disconnect the spark plug before putting your hands in the area of the cutting blade! It's not worth losing a hand for the couple of seconds to do the disconnect.
Check to see if when you install the bag, it forces the spring loaded door completely open. Sometimes when the bag looks to be attached, it isn't fully, and the door isn't being forced open.
The other possibility is the door opening is clogged with grass and needs to be cleaned.

Mower leaves strip of grass unmowed in center of deck. This is a model X300 with newly sharpened blades

Check the center blade to make sure it spins freely when the deck belt has been removed. The spindle may have frozen up.

Do I need to switch to the high lift blades for my rear bagger to work right?

Yes. I use gator mulching blades during the summer. They won't bag a thing. The original/standard blades will bag some grass/leaves, if they are dry and not too dense, but they are prone to clogging. The high lifts work much much better.

I get mine on amazon. The shipping is free. LA145 48" deck. Part GX21785.

Why do the clippings remain on lawn and don't enter bag?

Blades cut the grass and blow air like a fan. The clippings should flow along with the air out into the yard or into the bag. That only works if the bag acts like a filter and catches the clippings but lets the air out to be replaced by more air and more clippings until the bag is full of clippings.
The most likely problem is that your bag does not let the air out. Cutting wet grass will coat the inside like green paint. When dry, it's like the underside of your mower.
Check the inside. You might need to scrape and/or flush from the outside in. Can yours be turned inside out"? That would be the best case.
When clean and dry, it should work.
Didn't mention the easiest fix: to take out the hand-ful of clipping blocking the path to the bad: since you already checked that.

Replace spring on grass deflector

you have to hold the spring and deflector in the loaded position (forcing against the spring force) while you feed the pin thru the deflector and spring and back thru the deflector and intor the deck bracket.

I have a new model 20371 tor self propelled mower. Used it once. Won't start

Change the plug.
Check coil / wire.
Clean or replace air filter.
Check fuel tank for debri / grass or dirt.
If there is grass or debri in the gas tank, you need to go through the carbruetor because the jets are possibly clogged......

Hope this works...

Craftsman riding lawn mower won t cut grass

Does it die when you attempt to engage the cutting deck? If so the you might have a clogged fuel filter, bad gas, dirty air filter, bad spark plug.
Or the mower engage switch may be faulty. They are located in different places on different mowers. But should be attached somewhere along the main pivot of the engage lever. Let me know if you need more assistance. Good Luck!!

X300 series tractor problems climbing steep inclines belt seems to be slipping Is there an adjustment to tighten?

Hello,

The X300 has a self adjusting tensioner on the drive belt. Are you trying to mow uphill in the morning? or when the grass is wet? And did you buy it new, and how long has it been acting this way. Have you had a rear flat tire repaired latley? These are some questions that will help us answer you problem.

Thanks,Matt

I would like to buy a petrol lawn mower, i have found out there are mulching lawn mowers on the market, what are your views on this type of mower

Mulching mowers are great if you dont have the time to rake the excess grass or the means ( time or ability) to dispose of te collected remains. The mower will mulch te grass right back over te top of the cut grass with minimal apperance of grass being left behind, if you kep up on the cutting schedule that is. Better for larger areas where "lines" would usually remaine with a non mulching mower.
