I have gout and diabetes i need help a diet

That's a complicated situation which can't really be solved here. Your diet and other treatment will depend on whether you are type 1 or 2, whether you can manage with just diet, or pills, or whether you need insulin, on what other medicines you are taking, your age and weight, on and on. The gout problem raises questions about your diet and weight as well.

That's why you really need professional advice. In many locations there are diabetes clinics you can attend which will look after your diet and advise on exercise. You will need regular blood tests and visits to a doctor, and maybe a dietician.

One thing for sure is that you will need to pay attention to the Glycemic Index (GI) rating of your foods, and balance your protein and carbohydrate intake. You will have to carefully regulate sugary foods, and alcohol, which elevate your blood glucose. I think as a byproduct of properly managing your diabetes, the gout will greatly improve as well.

Don't neglect this, as diabetes is a horrible disease if left untreated. How do I know? I'm a diabetic! Best of luck.

Does this effect gout sufferes

It seems to me that the jury is still out... if you ask gout sufferers, they swear that asparatame sweetners such as are in diet soda makes gout worse. However, if you read the latest studies published in the British Medical Journal say: "data suggest that consumption of sugar sweetened soft drinks and fructose is strongly associated with an increased risk of gout in men. Furthermore, fructose rich fruits and fruit juices may also increase the risk. Diet soft drinks were not associated with the risk of gout". So they are clearly blaming sugar and fructose which is in regular soda pop.

The good news is that the risk of gout was found to be lower in individuals with higher vitamin C intake.

What can a person do for goute?

First, assuming the problem is with your feet and not your hands, elevate your legs to help reduce the swelling. Next; see your doctor ASAP. After he confirms that you have gout, he will put you on a drug such as Allopurinol. It does take a week or two to kick in. I have been on it for five years and it works very well. I have only had one or two reoccurrence during that time and they have been short and certainly not as bad as the first attack when I was not on Allopurinol.
