Question about Compaq P 1220 22" CRT Monitor

3 Answers

When I hook up my moniter it does not work like other moniters.

I bought this moniter of a garage sale.
I plugged the power cord, usb and the pc to moniter cable.
Anyways so my moniter is hooked up and when i turn it on and turn my pc on i get this screen that you normally get if your pc to moniter cable is not connect. I even tryed turning it off and on and i tryed to switch between the two ports but it dosn't work.
Do i first need to install the moniter drivers and then hook this moniter up or can i intall the driver after wards. The main point is that this moniter is not working it keeps bringing me to the screen that your normaly get if your pc card cable is not connect to your moniter.
WHAT should i do.

It sounds like your monitor is broken. Try another computer with it and see if you get an output.
Do you see anything while the computer is POSTing? (Starting up, you should see white letters or a splash screen as it goes through it's Power On Self Test.) If so, the resolution of your video card may be set too high for your monitor. If that's the case, as it POSTs hold down F8 (if you have a Windows OS) and start in safe mode. Go into properties for your video card and lower the resolution. If it's an older system, you can boot in VGA mode.
A monitor doesn't need drivers to work. "Drivers" are usually little extras that allow you to control certain aspects of the monitor that are special to that system, but that's all. It doesn't need them to work.

NO Signal means the monitor is working, but either the computer isn't, or the monitor cable to computer is bad.

The computer sends a signal to the monitor. Your monitor lights up, and has a No Signal message on it. If the monitor were no good, it would be a black screen.

Do you have a graphics card installed? If so, the monitor needs to be plugged into that, Not into the I/O area.
I/O = Input/Output
This is an area on the motherboard where the Input and Output devices are connected. Two of these are the Keyboard, and Mouse.

(What USB cable are you referring to? For the Mouse? For the Keyboard? For some other device?)

New acer 19 " moniter plug in will not turn on ?

Hi,
Try other outlet, check the power cord if it contacted the monitor. If nothing happened, maybe it's factory defect, since it still under warranty, you can still change it.
Thanks

I NEED HELP PLEASE!!!!!!! PROVIEW 19" MONITER.

Does the led on front of the monitor stay blue or does it become amber ?
If it becomes amber, then you are not getting a signal.
No harm in trying this : You can try to see if it is a contact problem.
With the monitor unplugged.
Use a small paper clip to run in and out of the blue vga plug holes a few times each to make sure they are not plugged or gummed up.
If that doesn't help and you know that your video cord is good, then I am afraid to say that more than likely there is a problem with yor video card.

If it stays blue then the signal is there but the screen isn't fully lighting up, leading to a failing power-inverter board or a bad bulb.

Have tried wall-mart

Well now if you go asking shop folk for this -they wont use their imagination, just in case they get it wrong and you sue. Just be sure that the voltage you need is - what it is - 12V did you say Then go the the electrical isles small items and you will see usually in a bubble pack on the rack a power supply- with a strip of various connectors. The power supply will have a slider switch to select vorltages from 1.5-3-4.5-6-7.5-9-12 volts. These will also have a coloured patch. The connectors are also coloured on the tip. Pick the connector colour that matched the voltage colour- plug in into the cord and lug it into the monitor . And it does not work Huh! Then unplug the connector from the cord and turn it around plug it in- then it it will work.
