SOURCE: Washing Machine is not draining in rinse cycle to go to spin cycl

you both seem to have bad lid switches. A bad lid switch will prevent draining and spinning.

SOURCE: in spin cycle, there is a loud metal on metal

Hi
Remove the drum belt, and spin drum by hand.
If it feels rough, or it is noisy, then drum bearigs have failed.
Please rate my solution.
thanks.

I have an Amana top loading washing machine.. The machine recently emitted a burning odor and the machine has stopped spinning. when turned to spin cycle there are bumping sounds and it no longer spins. Does this model have a belt which might need replacing or does it have a transmission and does it sound like possibly extensive transmission work. If it is the transmission, is it likely repair costs would be greater than the value of this machine?

High pitched sound during spin cycle

That machine doesn't have a belt. It is more likely that you have a bearing going bad. You may also have a tub seal starting to go which then leaks water onto the bearing, damaging it.

I have a kenmore washer model 41743042200 when it is in the spin cycle it sounds like a bearing is going bad. Can someone confirm what the problem may be. Washer works and sounds normal in all other...

The washer may emmit a low whisteling sound during the spin. It is causd buy the air whisteling thru the holes in the wash drum. The bearings are not easily serviceable, you can check them by grasping the agitator and shaking it slightly back and forth. If you feel a little clunking then you may need the spin busnings replaced ($15-20 parts and a $80 tool)or a new machine.

Fisher and Paykel clicking sound

it sounds like the bearings are going out as it spins faster the noise quietens down because the bearings are more spread out and as it slows they fall lower leaving an area that it causing "friction" of a kind

Crosely top load washer model cw20p8ws

First problem is related to the timer. It is worn out and can no longer make full contact. That is why you have to hold it in position.
Second problem sounds like the brake/clutch is dry. Most of these machines used a wet braking system. It's repairable but not cost effective.
Might be better to look into a new machine as the cost of repair may be more than the old unit is worth.

The water pump may be going bad...Yes it probably is a bearing. Take the belt loose and try turning each pully until you find one that makes noise or is hard to turn. Pump and motor should both spin very easily with out noise.
