Take out the batteries. Take a hair dryer and try blowing the hot air along all sides of the camera. If your camera has a plastic body, make sure not to stay in one area to avoid discoloring the plastic.
Blow the air in for a good 5 minutes. This trick has worked a few times on cameras and cell phones.
If it still doesn't work, more than likely you have shorted out the circuit and it will need to be disassembled.

I know the Display is working because the camera setting show up, but point the camera at a person to take picture and the display is blank/black... person does not show up on display. I took the picture any way and when I review the pictures, they are black...no person. I tried to reset default settings. That did not work. Any ideas?

I have a problem with Canon SD850 in zoom mode and low light. Outside in less than sunny weather, if I zoom on a subject the LCD gets really dark (almost black) when I compose a picture. Picture will come out just like LCD.
