Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Trying to print a black-and-white photo with a black background and a half-tone image in the front, but I kept getting stripes of a purplish color instead of black. As I kept trying, the black background got blacker but the picture had a greenish cast. Nozzle check showed gray OK for black, but still got greenish overtones when I printed the picture. Then black stopped completely on the nozzle check. Did two cleanings. But no black on nozzle check. Did two deep cleanings. Still no black on nz.check. Now the picture itself will print out with a uniform purple background, and the nozzle check remains devoid of black ink.

Shut down your PC. Remove your printers power cable and data cable. Restart your PC. Re-connect your printer to your PC. Remove your colour cartridge. Open your picture. Press Ctrl plus P. Go to options and search for grayscale word on each tab. If cannot find in options then try to find it in properties. Select gray scale click ok and if it prints then its good or else just give the printer its colour cartridge back and then once again try to print in grayscale.

Problem with printing black and white photos

Probably what happen is that you are printing black and white but you have your printer on color mode, try to set the printer to grayscale or black and white before print. The printer is tring to get the black and white by mixing all three color, that is the most comon way of make black, so, when one of the color is missing you see those red lines.
Also you will solve the problem replacing the color cartridge.

Using Canon iP4600, I'm trying to print a black-and-white photo with a black background and a half-tone image in the front, but I keep getting purplish and black stripes instead of an all black background....

Hi there

Sometimes, printers use colors from the other cartridges in order to form a deep black colour. It does seem that not enough pure black ink is getting onto the paper.

Can you check that there is enough black ink remaining? If so, go to the print options of the program from which you are trying to printer the image, and set the colour output to black or greyscale only. This may be within an option called Printer Preferences from the Print dialogue window of the program from which you are printing from.

Then, print an image as a test and see if it comes out in black only this time.

I look forward to your reply.

Regards

White vertical stripe on color images when they're printed

You may have some dust on the imaging window (printer head). Remove the toner cartridges and clean it with some tissues.

I assume you're using photo paper.

Go to File/Print. Click Properties. Click Media Type and chose the photo paper you are using, whether it's Photo Paper Pro or whatever. If you're printing using Plain paper and you have photo paper in the printer, you'll get the stripes.

Hope that helps

When I want to print using the photo or black ink cartridges, my printer uses the tricolour cartridge. If I take the tri colour cartridge out, the printer alerts that there is a cartridge missing and still...

If what you are trying to print is a black in white image then you cant print that when you dont have the other colors installed. The reason is because your image/photo has shades of gray, and for the printer to produce gray, it needs the other colors as well. It needs colors to get the light black or gray shades of the photo....

If however, you are trying to print text only, the printer should be using the black cartridge and not the other colors... I believe that there should be an option in the printers preferences to select black ink only... look for it under advance tab...

hope this helps

Konica Bizhub 250 diagonal stripe (loss of color or tone)

Sounds like it needs service.

The life expectancy meters are just general measurements. They only indicate when it is time for a Service Tech to come by a review the parts. If you are having that type of imaging problems you need a Tech to look at it.

Won't print black and white, looks blue

Hi

HP uses a system for black that prints a base ie: Cyan / *blue then overprints it with black...

Sounds like you are either out of black or you have an ink clog?

If so... you need to use a print head cleaner like Magic Inkjet Flush you can get a kit on Ebay.

Good Luck!
