does selecting DVI, operates the HDMI mode?
I would recheck all my connections just in case, try new batteries on the remote, try operating the TV via the controls on the panel itself.
If none of this works, would suggest calling in the TV's customer care.

it sounds like a refresh issue, double check you selector and make sure it fits the refresh of the tv. i had this once with a sharp where the tv was 120hz and the selector was 60 and it created a no signal and when it did come in it was jumpy. if you have a 120 tv then selector should be the same.

HDMI 1 is the DVD. If you want the Sat. go to the ports on the TV, look for HDMI 1 and pull the DVD line off. Replace with the line to the Sat TV equipment. Move the DVD to another HDMI port of your choosing.
