could be a number of things, but you may want to test with an ohmmeter if you have one.
It sounds like your timer needs to be replaced. If the buzzer is not shutting off, the timer may not be turning to the off position. It may be really slow our out of wack, not letting the dryer completely dry. It also could be an error with the dryer's control module (kind of like a computer for the dryer)
I also recommend playing around with door switch, it to may be faulty. If the dryer does work with door closed, it is unlikely to be the door switch. You will have to test timer and door switch with ohmmeter or voltmeter to determine that the voltage current is constant and not speratic or shorting out.

You cannot "bypass" the sensors. The sensors have circuits in them that must communicate with the main circuit board. Try mounting the sensors a little higher. Ideal height is 5-6 inches off the floor.
If you have no kids or pets around you can always duct tape them together behind the main unit. But, that would be unsafe and I recommend you find a different solution.

It sounds like a relay has gone out. Unplug the unit for a hour and plug it back in. See if the compressor comes on or if you hear it clicking. You might want to slide it out from the wall so you may observe it better. Also, check to see if the condenser fan comes on by the compressor.
