Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a MARS 10465 motor and it changes direction on it's own after it shuts off and comes back on. It might blow up one time and then down the next. The last motor was doing the same thing.

Will run for a few minutes, then red light comes on canister an unit shuts off.

That's the thermal cut off circuit. If the motor gets to hot it trips and shuts it off. When it cools down it will turn on again but it is generally an indicator of one of the following; the cone filter needs changed or the inner filter ring that sits above the motor inside the unit is shot. One is an easy change the other requires dis-assembly, better carried out by a vac tech if you aren't comfortable taking it apart. In the meantime remove the cap out of the top of the vacuum, that will let it exhaust heat better but I strongly recommend getting that filter ring changed.

The vehicle is 2004 buick century. sometimes the temp guage rises and comes back down. during this time, clod air blows. sometimes the temp guage is 1/2 way and cold air blows. thermostat has been changed....

is your electric fans running constantly. and most times then not you`ll need a water temp sensor or water temp relay. usually the temp sensor on that model comes usually next to the thermostat with a little wired plug on top. or on the radiator. either way pull the plug while the motor is cold. unscrew the sensor and screw the new one in and replace the electric plug back on top of the sensor. 2 things: Cold motor, have every thing set up and ready because when you take out the sensor the coolant will start to come out. you will not loose much if you work quick. keep rags or paper towels below the sensor to keep coolant off the motor and smelling when it gets hot. you have also pour or hose off coolant after your done installing the new coolant temp sensor.

Mars blower motor diagram?4 wires

I have a GE P547BS fan motor. I find replace it with a Mars 10584 fan motor. GE has five wires, BRN, YEL,PUR,BLK,RED. Goes through the capacitor with the yellow going on to 200 V the purple and black go to 220 V. Mars motor as a six wire connection two Brown's go to the capacitor. yellow I'm assuming goes to the hot/neutral and a black I would say would be high-speed blue is medium and red is low. Now when I connect with this way it blows the fuse. Anybody run into this problem before? Any help? By the way, it's a 240 V single phase system.

We have a admiral dryer that continues to shut itself off after only 10-15 minutes of use. It will work again after about 30-45 minutes. It seems to me that it is a safety feature that keeps the dryer...

that is a damaged motor and it has to be repaced.there's an overload in the motor that's shuting it down when the motor cools down it will run again.most likely you cleaned it out a little to late.if you put a new motor in or repalce the dryer you have to clean out the dryer once a year if it's gas or once every two years if it's need to remove the vent line from the back of the dryer,if it's a long run to the outside i use a leaf blower and blow out the line,i've found birds nest in there and alot of other junk after the owners said they cleaned it out, next with the dryer unplugged you need to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into, usually you have to take the dryer apart to do this, next with a shop vac,vac up the lint in the cabinet where the motor is and then switch it to blow and blow off the motor,i can't tell you how much lint comes out and from around the motor even though it looks clean,if you do this you won't be changing out any motors, your clothes will dry ontime and you won't have to worry about having a fire.when you take the dryer apart check the rear of the drum and see if lint is stuck around the back of it,usually when the motor is running to hot the oil leaks out of it and it sprays up onto the drum and on the side wall.if the dryer is in good shape send me the model number,i can look up your motor and tell you how to change it out.good luck

Lennox air unit not blowing cold air

your fan motor outside is going bad, have a service company change it out for you.

the motor stopped working and that overheated the compressor shutting it down on thermal cutout, and it will only come on once it cools down
