SOURCE: sub thumps repeatedly

since it still thumps i suspect the speaker is ok, but i suspect you have an electronic problem in the amp. since it is a powered sup & has the ability to auto turn on it has electronic circuits inside, take it to a service center for an estimate

SOURCE: why is there a thump sound from my speaker?

Not a big problem. But try cleaning up your ground wire going to the amp. Remove any paint at the connection and make sure it is really tight. You shouldn't be able to move the ground wire with your hands. You can try to isolate the amp turn-on away from your headunit using a relay.

SOURCE: JBL PB12 will have loud thump or pop!

First try to find the source of your problem. The easiest way would be to try your sub with a different audio source to see if the problem still occurs but is sounds more like there's a problem with the receiver.

Bass speaker start up noise

Hello anne845,

It sounds like the installer wired the amp remote turn-on terminal to an "accessory" lead in your vehicle. Many stock radios do not have a dedicated amp turn-or lead and the alternative is to connect the amp to a switched power source (ignition or accessory). This means the amp turns on whenever you turn on the vehicle ignition, often resulting in a thumping from the subs. It is a perfectly satisfactory alternative, and will not damage either the amp or the sub. But it's irritating.

If the thumping is objectionable, have your installer wire a SPST (Single Pole, Single Throw) toggle switch inline with the turn-on wire. The switch should be mounted so it is accessible by the driver, and whenever you turn on the radio, turn on the toggle switch.

Hope this helps.

Pb12 makes thumping sound after warming up

Hello there..Thats normal only if your sub volume and the pre amp is turned up..Your amp is the cause of the speaker jump..Turn amp volume sub level down a few and check your wire from sub to amp..If all of that is good is a normal operation for pre amp warm up in sub if level is turn to max..Try unplugging amp freom sub then turn sub on stand alone(just sub outlet plugged in and no wires from base amp plugged in..If sub stops the its the amp making the problem..If it still is there then the pre amp is either dusty on inside or the outlet plug that it is plugged in doesnt have a good ground..Hope these help to solve your problem..Have a great day...

Thump at the time of shutoff

The amplifier in the sub as with any other amplifier has a capacitor in it. Essentially a battery that holds a charge. When you trun things off such as subs or amps with a powerstrip instead of the intended on off button, the power supply has been cut, but the capacitor is still energizing the unit. So it catches the noise in the line.

Subwoofer "thumping" w. no audio feed

You need to check your ground connection. If there is a bad ground there will be feedback to the amp and it will just sit there and loop back with the Thump, Thump, Thump sound. I had to wire my amp's ground all the way back to the negative battery terminal. It was a pain but I have never had a problem since :)

Speaker problem

Hi, can you please elaborate on "sub is starting to pulse". Assuming initially that by pulse you mean that the sub produces a thumping sound when turned on, then: in some cases, this would be even considered normal; if you have not experienced this before except lately, then it is possible that the amplifier powering the sub is in question. Chances are that you have a leaky/defective capacitor in that section. The basic repair would involve remove/check/replace (if needed) but if you are not comfortable working with a soldering iron and a VOM, it would probably be best to have an electronics tech work on it. Hope this works out for you. Good luck.
