Why is my HP Laser Jet 4L not printing complete page?

It only prints top 1/8th of page and last 1 line at bottom.

Hello Patricia,
When your system is on line, connected to the Internet,
I recommend you open 'Devices and Printers'
Choose to, and uninstall your printer.
If you have a cleaner like 'CCleaner' open it and run both 'Cleaner' and 'Registry'
That is run 'Analyze' and 'Run Cleaner' for each option.
Run the Registry option for both until nothing shows up under Analyze.
Make sure your printer is powered on and connected to your computer.
Restart your computer,
The computer system will see your printer and install the drivers for it.
The machine OS may or may not require a response from you.
Alternately, if you have the original installation software and drivers disk for the printer
You could uninstall the printer software and drivers the use the disk to reinstall them.
If your software was for an earlier operating system than is currently running on your machine
Then it would be best to download the newest software for your printer from HP.com
If that has not resolved the problem check;

You will find HP's help videos there which can provide more information.
In terms of alternate trouble shooting;
Have you recently installed any new hardware or software?
If you have, click start and begin typing 'Device Manager.'
When you see Device Manager listed in the start menu, click it.
Device Manager will open.
Look for anything yellow or red.
Click on the plus sign in front of the red or yellow item, and/or right click the item and select 'Properties'
Look at the information to identify what the problem is said to be.
Viewing the various tabs may provide you with more information.
If only one issue exists that is good.
Sometimes if and when such issues exist they cannot be easily resolved.
At other times if one can clearly identify the hardware, one may surf to the manufacturers
Website, download the driver for the specific software, install it and resolve the problem.

When I print I only get a line of garmage at the top of the page - i've tried rebooting, etc.


Have you printed a test page without it pluggetd to the computer? What did you get.
Try telling the computer it is a HP Laser jet II
Then print a test page, tell me what you get.
Only put a couple pieces of paper in it just incase it goes nuts.

Wipe the cartridge.Use cotton but dont put water on it only cotton.if you have deiones water its good to use.

Only prints one page then stops


I have a HP Laser jet 4L that prints one page then skips the next.
I uninstalled the printer then re-installed which temporarily fixed the problem, now it's doing the same thing again. Please help!

If you haven't already, get a driver here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=15034&lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=25486&taskId=135 and install it over the old one. If text is missing at the bottom of the page, this usually means that the application is attempting to print outside of the printer's printable area. Most printers, including HP LaserJets, can not print right up to every edge of the page. Adjust the bottom margin upwards in Word. Usually, in Print Preview anything outside of the printable area as known by the printer driver will not be displayed. This is not guaranteed to work since there are many way things can go quirky, but it's usefull to try. Can't tell you much about the alignment though, hope you work it out.
