SOURCE: Changed cable box form DVR

The coaxial cable goes in the IN antenna connector on the HD box. From the HDMI connector of the box a cable will go to one of the HDMI IN connector in the receiver. From one of the HDMI OUT or MONITOR connectors from the receiver another cable goes to one og the HDMI IN connectors on the tv.
To view the box on the tv you will now have to select the correct sources, both in the receiver and the tv. Start by selecting the source on the tv - you will see the menus screen of the receiver - and only then select the source in the receiver

How do I fix the irritating shhhshshsh sound on my Hisense TV

Try moving the decoder to the other side of the TV, or farther away. The TV audio circuit may be picking up electromagnetic noise from the digital circuitry in the decoder. Another possibility is a defective audio circuit in the decoder.

If you are connecting the decoder to the antenna input on the TV, the problem may be a misaligned (mistuned) audio modulator output in the decoder. In that case, if you have the option of using a different TV channel on both units, try that.

To get HD reception one needs to use a decoder and then the signal OUT from the decoder goes by cable to the TV set, that is now used essentially as a monitor.
however if you have a fault use the service manual's troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue.

I have a panasonic DMR-EZ48V and on the HD channels it says unable to decode HD!what does this mean and how can I get the HD channels to work?thanks

Unable to decode HD is a common banner display message with these combos. It simply means the unit is not engineered to process HD signals. It is a model series limitation; not a fault as such.

This model incorporates a SD (standard definition) integrated digital tuner. It is a major pain in the proverbial not being able to receive HD, and not being able to skip them in any setup menu.

The only thing you could really do here is connect an external HD digital set top box (which would also contain SD channels) directly to the recorder's AV inputs at the rear, and then selecting the appropriate input on the combo unit to suit the source. You could then choose whether to view/record HD or SD via this method, rather than use the unit's built-in tuner.

Works just as well, with minimal error, depending on the signal strength and type of DSTB used.

It's crude, but cheaper, and does not require repairs or messy wiring.

Cannot get my yamaha rx-v663 to decode DolbyTrueHD audio of get my SBL/SBR speakers to work without turning the bi-amp on.

You should always connect with HDMI when using and decoding HD sound formats. If you use the normal digital option it will use PCM. Also check if your source is set to HD formats via HDMI connections.

No OTA channels

This television has an extremely weak tuner. It is very sensitive to both ghosting (multipath) and weak signal conditions, which cause it's digital decoder to "error out". Coupled with this is the decoder's long set-up time (time to actually begin a decoded video stream after signal is selected)and you find that every time the decoder loses sync it takes several seconds to reestablish normal decoding. The net result is the possiblity that the tuner will be continually restarting and never display anything. An extremely directional antenna may help. Otherwise, find a good external tuner box and use that.
