Plug the hole where the wire comes through the wall. Then be sure the air is not blowing right on it. Make sure you are set for auto fan. It's also possible it's humidity related or minimum run time related but that can even be confusing to me at times so I won't explain. Good Luck!!

My upstairs temperature is 80 degrees and the downstairs is 69 Honeywell focus pro th6000 is set at 69. Why is the upstairs so drastically hot?unit is located upstairs& thermostat is downstairs

if there is no control of air movement between floors and you have it on cooling then any cold air will go down to the lower floor
or alternately if you have it set on heating all the hot air will rise to the upper floor
where is the system located (upstairs or down stairs ) and where is the thermostat located
to get control close any upstairs to down stairs doors or erect a heavy curtain across the stair well

Check for cold air inside the wall behind the thermostat, a cold wall, and area that is getting hot or cold air blowing on the thermostat. Last, the heater may not be compatible with some digital thermostats. Honeywell Customer Care toll-free at 1-800-468-1502.

Why can't I lower my honeywell 8500 below 67 on cool?

With a two story house you have to be aware that cold air flows downwards so any cold air coming from an ac unit will flow downstairs( normally down the stairway) so unless you can close off the down stairs then the up stairs unit will be cooling downstairs as well. Ac units have a thermostat located in the air intake and it cools until the cold air has risen to that point. In effect the space above the ac unit will be hotter than the floor. Knowing how they work ,you can see that the upstairs unit will never reach the set temperature because the cold air is continually heating from the house and will never get to the top thermostat.
So your solutions are
1-- fit controls that restrict the cold air from leaving the upper floor (Doors)
2--don't run the upper ac unit unless you are living up there (waste of money
)3 place an ac in each upper room and keep the room door closed

We have the honeywell thermostat: th2100d1009 1A/24 VAC Why would the heat shut off with this thermostat while no one was home??? We always leave the heat on.

May be it reached the thermostat setting. And one humble advise, please do not keep a/c on for long time when no one is there. It's not safety.

I can't get my Air Conditioner to come on ?

Clean the filters of the air conditioner. Also, if the unit has been running for a few years without proper maintenance you must expect lots of dust in the evaporator unit. This is usually easy to clean with compressed air.

Good luck!
