How do i Hard reset my Samsung S738C?

Remember that hard reset will erase everything permanently and it means you have to back it up in the first place if you don't want to lose it. Now, you already backup the personal data in your device and when the hard reset process is complete, the phone will restore everything automatically and you can have your phone back.

Please see below instructions:

  1. Turn OFF the device completely.
  2. In the same time, press and hold Power button, Home button and Volume Up button for several seconds.
  3. Release Power button only when Samsung logo appear on the screen.
  4. Release the rest button when Android logo appear, the recovery menu will appear.
  5. Choose "Wipe Data / Factory Reset" option using Volume button and Power button to select it.
  6. Choose "Yes - delete all user data" to confirm the whole operation.
  7. Select "Reboot System Now" when it has complete.

Folks are telling me to do a hard reset because of having very slow Facebook issues on my straight talk Alcatel. I am desperate to solve problem but what's hard reset?

Hi Donna,

Thanks for choose the Fixya

I'm assuming you are using android phone If you are facing the problem of slow speed of your phone then may be your internal storage has full, so deleted unwanted software and use the DU Speed Booster (Download from play store), then it should perform well.
If still you are need to Hard Reset your phone (Hard Reset mean you have to format your phone in factory default setting that is called "Hard Reset:, it should wipe your complete data like Audio,Video,Picture, download file etc). so before careful to do this take the backup of all the data and follow the instruction..

Safe mode can help you troubleshoot your Android, but sometimes you'll need to wipe everything and restore your device to its factory state. But if you can't perform a normal factory reset-say, if your phone won't boot properly-you can do it through Android's recovery environment.

Ensure you have any important data backed up before doing a reset. This includes your Google Authenticator credentials, which will be lost during the reset. Disable two-factor authentication on your accounts first or you'll experience some trouble afterwards.

If safe mode doesn't help fix your device, you can perform a hard reset by booting into a special recovery mode. First, ensure your device is fully shut down.

Press and hold the correct keys to boot the device into recovery mode. This will vary from device to device. Here are some examples:

  • Nexus 7: Volume Up + Volume Down + Power
  • Samsung Galaxy S3: Volume Up + Home + Power
  • Motorola Droid X: Home + Power
  • Devices With Camera Buttons: Volume Up + Camera

Similar devices will likely use similar key combinations. For example, the Nexus 4 also uses Volume Up + Volume Down + Power.

If your device isn't on this list and none of the above methods work, do a Google search for the name of your device and "recovery mode" - or look in the device's manual or support pages.

Release the buttons when the device powered on. You'll see an image of an Android lying on its back with its chest open and its internals revealed.

Press the Volume Up and Volume Down keys to scroll through the options until you see Recovery mode on the screen.

recovery-mode-option

Press the Power button to restart into recovery mode. You'll soon see an Android with a red triangle.

Hold down the Power button and tap Volume Up. You'll see the Android system recovery menu appear at the top of your screen.

Select wipe data / factory reset with the volume keys and tap the Power button to activate it.

Select Yes - erase all user data with the volume buttons and tap Power. Your device will be reset to its factory state and all your data will be erased.

If your device freezes at any point, hold down the Power button until it restarts.

If the factory reset process doesn't fix your problems - or doesn't work at all - it's likely that there's a problem with your device's hardware. If it's still under warranty, you should have it fixed or replaced.

(There's one exception to this: If you've been flashing custom ROMs and messing with your device's low-level software, it's possible that you could have overwritten the stock recovery software. In this case, it's possible that you have a software problem and not a hardware problem.)

My nephew got a hold of my straight talk android LG L34C the other night and put a password on it so now i cannot use it how do i hard reset it so that i can use my phone again

Typically android phones can be reset using the factory reset option from a menu accessible from bootup - power the phone off, then hold volume up + power buttons for 10 second or until phone powers on. Release the buttons and it should power on and ahow a picture of the android guy. If you see this it should then bring up a menu with 3 or 4 choices, one being factory reset. If you choose factory reset from here it will restore the phone back to a state as if you just got it - but beware, this will erase all of your data and information from the phone. But it will indeed remove any password that is locking you out of the phone. You will have to re-setup any apps, contactsx pictures, music, etc that you had on there previously. Good luck!

downloaded or any files on your microSD
card or internal memory, such as music

all the data on the internal memory while

Hi, cant set up or sign in google account on my Xperia X8, hence have not been able to access android market ever since i bought the phone. Read somewhere refalshing the android might help but i dont...

Instead of reflashing Android I recommend that you try a hard reset, which will erase everything not on the SD-card and reset everything to factory settings. Hopefully this will make it work.
The process:
  1. From the main home screen, tap menu
  2. Tap Settings, then Privacy
  3. Tap Factory data reset
  4. Tap Reset phone
  5. Enter your password if required, then tap Erase everything to confirm
