My machine has no instructions it was bought from a second hand dealer and it was ok when purchased. Needle came loose now it does not work. My first machine so not sure what to do.

Could it be the needle is not installed correctly or all the way up? Most machine needles install with the flat side facing the back of the machine. If the bobbin is installed on the left side of the machine, then the needle's flat side usually faces the right (toward the harp of the machine).

How do I replace my twin needles on my brother overlock 1334 D ?

That is not a twin needle. It is actually two individual needles that are separate. (There are actually some stitches that you would use only one needle, ie hem.)

The manual will have instructions on how to replace the needles. There appears to a hex screw immediately above the needles that is used to remove or secure the needles. With the hex tool included with your machine, loosen that set screw (be careful because both needles will become loose and can drop down into the machine). Hold the needle(s) with the flat side facing the back of the machine, slip them all the way up in the needle holes, hold them in place while tightening the hex screw. Be Careful to not lose the hex screw that hold the needle or drop the screw or needle down into the machine.

Zigzag stitch problems on brothers pc-420 sewing machine

Sewing machine skips stitches
1.needle inserted incorrectly
flat side of the needle faces the shaft
round needle
groove of needle faces away from the shaft

Correct needle insertion is mandatory for proper use
Raise the needle bar to the highest point, then loosen the clamp screw to remove the needle.
Place the new needle in the clamp with the flat side of the needle facing the back of the machine.
If round needle--the groove in the needle faces away from the shaft
Push needle all the way up to the stop or as far as it will go.

3.possible bent needle--lay needle on flat surface & roll needle over, if the needle does not roll good -replace
4.blunt needle point--needle makes a popping sound when needle penetrates the fabric--replace needle
5.needle not all the way up in needle holder--loosen needle clamp screw & push the needle up until it stops then tighten screw
6.incorrect threading--one step missed in sequence of threading can cause machine to skip stitches
7.wrong needle in machine--check instruction manual--some machines can use a generic needle with no problem
8.size of needle & thread & the fabric are not compatable

I have a JUKI TL-98E, purchased used in great condition. Having a problem with the needles breaking, worked fine when I first got it. Rethreaded the machine and put in a new bobbin and the problems...

I had problems as well, especially when trying to outline quilt. I found using a Schmertz Metafill needle, or an embroidery, anything with a larger eye, helped.

Thread breaks

First, change the needle, second, set the tension 3-5 if it only goes to 8. Next, unthread the machine with new thread and be very careful to make sure the thread is in the tension wheel.
