Open a COMMAND PROMPT window on your computer (black screen, white text). Type: tracert 111.222.333.444 where 111.222.333.444 is the IP address Press enter. NOTE there's a SPACE between tracert and the IP.
Every server between you and the target will be listed, and there are usually some geographic clues in the server names themselves.

How can I open the page

Locate your router. There should be a label which displays your default gateway. The Default gateway displays a number. It should show a number like
  • 192.168.0.1
  • 192.168.1.1
  • 10.0.0.1
Open your browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, ETC..) Type the default gateway number into the search engine text box on top of the screen press enter or return (mac). The page should now show user name and password. Locate the router and locate the default credentials. For example. most routers requires the user name to be blank and the password is password. Routers very.

About obtaining an IP address. Routers are usually set to option the IP address automatically unless you manually set a static IP address which is not recommended.

Cant login on my login name and password

You may need to reset the password. You can do this by locating the IP adderss for your router, then input it in two the search bar at the top of your browser (note: you have to have a wired connection the the router for this to work) log on with user id: admin or admin1 or administrator and for the password enter: admin or password .. enter system settings for the router to change your personal user password. If you have a problem with locating the IP address for your router contact the maker or try serching the internet, that part should not be too dificult; all manufactures use the same IP address.

There was a problem accessing your account. Please try again in a moment. Error #1

1. Clear your cookies and temporary internet files (AKA cache), exit from the browser, then restart the browser.

2. If you are a home user and do not pay for a static IP address, get a different dynamic IP address; do
[Start] > [Run] > cmd > ipconfig
{{write down the IP address, then disconnect from the Internet with}}
ipconfig /release
{{wait a few minutes and then reconnect with}}
ipconfig / renew
{{compare the new IP address to the old to make sure your IP address changed, then try again}}

If you are an office user, try someone else's PC which will have a different IP address.

How do I install a wireless router

Connect it to your modem. Locate the IP address for the router. It should either be on the bottom of the router or in your manual

Open your browser and enter that IP address into the address bar. You will also need to locate the default user-name and password, should be with the IP address. Enter that information when prompted.

Locate the wireless settings in your router admin area, enable wireless output, set security settings (remember to write them down) and connect your computer to your wireless network.

I don't know how to reinstall the linksys access point!!! Our wireless network that we made simply disappeared, so I'm trying to re-make one. However, when I tried that with a flash drive, it couldn't work...

T
o access the Access Points Setup, and the LAN IP address has not changed, then computer must have an IP address of 192.168.1.XXX. If the Access Point is plugged in via Ethernet to a Linksys Router and the computer is also connected a Linksys router via Ethernet, then the PC should already have a correct IP address (unless the LAN IP Address of the Router has been changed). If unsure, please assign the computer a Static IP Address so it will have an IP address in the same range as the Access Points IP Address.

If the Access Point is being connected to a hub/switch/router via Ethernet, then use the cable that was provided with Access Point. If the Access Point is being connected to the computer directly, then a Cross Over cable must be used. Cross over cables can be purchased at most electronic stores.
Remember: When ever a change is made in the Setup of the Access Point, the Apply button must be used to save the settings to the Access Point.
  1. Open a web browser (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape)
  2. When the browser opens, go to the "Address" bar and input the IP address of the Access Point.
      Default IP addresses:
    • WAP11 v2.8 - 192.168.1.251
    • WAP54G v1.1 - 192.168.1.245
  3. A "User Name" and "Password" prompt will appear, leave the "User Name" field blank and input the Access Points password (The default password of a Linksys Access Point is admin) into the "Password" field.

Can you tell me what an ip addresse is im trying to connect to xbox live and it keeps asking for ip addresse

Every device connected to the public internet is assigned a unique number known as an internet protocol (IP) address. IP addresses consist of four numbers separated by periods(also called a 'dotted-quad') and look something like 127.0.0.1

since these numbers are usually assigned to internet service providers with region based blocks, an IP address can often be used to identify the region or country from which a computer is connecting to the internet. an IP adress can sometimes be used to show the users general location because the numbers may be tedious to deal with, an IP adress may also be assigned to a host name, which is sometimes easier to remember hostnames may be looked up to find IP adresses, and vice-versa. at one time ISPs issued one IP adress to each user. These are called static IP addresses. beacuse there is a limited number of IP adresses and with increased usage of the internet ISPs now issue IP adresses in a dynamic fashion out of a pool of IP addresses (using DHCP). these are referred to as dynamic IP addresses. This also limits the ability of the user to host websites mail servers, ftp servers, etc. in addition to users connecting to the internet with virtual hosting,a single machine can act like multiple machines (with multiple domain names and IP addresses).

I need to change the IP address on my hp color laser jet 2840 coud you help me with that

Hi,
Most HP printers can be reset to factory defaults (or cold-reset ) by turning the printer off and holding down the Online or Go button while turning the printer back on. The printer control panel display should read "Cold Reset" or "Restoring Factory Settings" or something like these lines. This will remove any IP address that the printer had previously.
When you plug it in, your router should have assigned an ip address automatically. Go into your router and look at the attached devices and it will show you what ip address has been assigned to each device on your network.

Use Web Interface or Manually Assign an IP address NOTE: Network HP Printers allow you to manage them via Internet Explorer. You can enter the IP address that the printer currently has and access its configuration settings. This assumes that the web interface hasn't been locked.
NOTE: We recommend that you install the latest version of Sun's Java software before trying these steps. See this How To: How to Update Sun's Java 2 Runtime Environment Plug-in.
  1. Print the Configuration page if needed. You will be entering the "current" IP Address.
  2. Open Internet Explorer. Delete EVERYTHING from the Address line.
  3. Enter the IP Address in the Address line and press Enter.
  4. You should then connect to the printer. If this fail, go to the next section to assign the IP address manually.

NOTE: There are 2 basics versions of the web interface. Type 1 is on newer printers. Type 2 is on older models

  5. Type 1: Click the Networking tab.
Type 2: Click the Administration button. Click the Configuration tab.

  6. Edit the IP address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway as needed.
  7. Do not change any other fields.
  8. Scroll to the bottom and click Apply. Click OK.
  9. Close Internet Explorer.
  10. Restart the Printer. Print the Configuration page to see if number was set.
NOTE: If the above steps do not allow you to assign the IP address via the Wizard, you will need to do it through at the printer itself.
  1. Go to this HP Support Page.

Configuring TCP/IP through the Front Control Panel

  2. Click the link to your printer model. Highlight these steps.
  3. From the File menu choose Print. In the Page Range section, click Selection. Click Print.

Note: For the complete printer user guide, go to the HP Printers Support & Troubleshooting page. Locate your specific printer type and model. On its home page, under self-help resources, click the manuals link. Download the printer's User Guide (not the Getting Started Guide). Look for steps to manually configure TCP/IP parameters from the printer control panel.

  4. Follow the steps from the printout to assign the desired IP Address to the printer.

IP address will be entered at the IP BYTE prompt
Subnet mask is entered at SM BYTE prompt
Gateway address is entered at GW BYTE prompt

Note: The syslog server IP address (LG BYTE 1=) and timeout (TIMEOUT=) do not need configured.

  5. Once the IP Address is entered, restart the Printer. Print the Configuration page to see if number was set.

Hope this helps
