Question about Samsung Televison & Video

In order to repair my Samsung UN32H5203AF US02 TV, what part would need to be replaced? Details below...

I have the Samsung UN32H5203AF US02 TV. It suddenly went black. I checked the backlight and there isn't any. I checked the screen using the flashlight and you can see the menu, etc. Sound is good! Called an online part supplier, they sold me the power board. Changed it, but did not resolve the issue. Another tech told me that it is the LED driver or LCD inverter. I have the service manual, but it does not reference either parts.

In most of the case, the problem is the LED back lights strips, it was the most case we encountered.
To check it, un-plug the cable between the power supply & the main board, apply the AC power to it, if the back lights came on, replace the main board, if not, mostly the problem is the back lights LED strips.

SOURCE: Replacing a Vizio Backlight Inverter

I have a television that did this. The picture went out but it continued to have sound. It was the projector bulb. I ordered from a dealer on ebay, very resonably priced. It came with instructions on how to install it and was a very easy fix.

SOURCE: Seiki led tv has sound but no picture. The picture can be seen with flashlight. We tried resetting default on menu with tech support, still no picture. Has no backlight. Which part should we replace?

You are correct, this is a backlight issue! The screen inverter is usually built into a circuit board, if you want to attempt this yourself you will need to access the circuit boards to see which one you need to replace! If you open up the TV and post a picture we will be able to point you in the right direction!

No sound, no picture, stand by light on but will not turn on (green) only blinking red light. I have replaced both main board and the power board. Still nothing. Any suggestions?

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

How do i set the color for picture

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Below are more details for both items. Also, complete repair kits with instructions and repair support are avail from site such as www.TvRepairKits.com Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. The power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

What you will need to do is convergence. You can get a repair kit from TvRepairKits.com . It includes replacement parts, step by step instructions, support, etc.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Samsung HP-R4272 tv has been working fine for the past 4 years. now the tv picture is blank but the power supply is ok and the audio is fine too.

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.
