You have to go to www.roku.com and sign up for an account. Once you have signed up for an account (yes you have to give them bank card stuff in case you use a pay for channel) on your account page there at the bottom right of the page is a link to "Link A Player". This is how you get your code.

You probably have a slow internet connection. It is recommended that you have a minimum 25/25 Mbps connection from your provider. If you do then the Roku might be too far from your wireless router. Try to move the router closer to the Roku if possible. The best way to watch streaming video is with a wired Ethernet connection with a Roku 2 or other wired device.
