This process will do much to reduce the bird nesting you are experiencing.

Remove the top thread from your machine.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread. This allows the thread to seat firmly in the tension disk.
Set the top tension to the midway point (may need to tweak this for your particular machine).
In addition: Pull the bobbin thread to the top of the fabric. Gently hold both top and bobbin thread tails in your left hand and slowly take the first couple of stitches.

Some people claim that if they manually sink the needle into the fabric before pressing on the foot control will greatly reduce bird nesting.

Singer futura quartet embroidery machine's bobbin area is tangling up the top thread. the top thread never breaks it just clogs up in the bobbin compartment can you help?

Be sure that when you thread the top thread, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot. This allows the thread to seat firmly in the tension disk. Sounds like what you are experiencing is called bird nesting or thread nesting.

I replaced the bobbin holder and the thread is jumping out of number 3@4 also causing bird nest what do I do

The bobbin case is most likely not the problem.

The problem is probably with the top thread threading, ie the thread is not seated completely in the tension disk. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread.

When I sew I have thread bunching up underneath the fabric, I've changed needle size, thread, bobbins and cleaned out around the bobbin holder. I'm frustrated and out of ideas.

Susan--
Easy peasy, once you know the problem and how to fix it. It's called "bird nesting" or "thread nesting" or what I refer to as thread "barfs."

Install a brand new needle.
Remove all the thread from the machine.
**ALWAYS RAISE** the presser foot and rethread the top thread.
Verify the top thread path is correct.
Install and thread the bobbin case, make sure it is correct.
Set the top tension to the midway point.

Now retest your machine. Birds nests gone? You may need to tweak the top tension because the factory standard changes due to age and use.

FWIW, problems appearing under the fabric are an issue of the top thread. Thread problems appearing on top of the fabric is a bobbin issue.

What causes Bird Nests Superior Threads

Birds nest under the fabric big loops of thread top side looks good...

My brother pe770 is allowing bobbin thread to show on top sporadically which makes the stitching look like it is speckled with white. I have adjusted tension..cleaned and changed everything.

Shelia,

when sewing these parts of the design, (small stitches? ) load your bobbin with the same top thread. Just match the top thread color, and done! No more white bobbin thread in the topside of your designs.

Troubleshooting Brother PE 770

Usually this is a tension problem. On mechanical machines, you'd adjust the dial, or possibly even the bobbin tension. But on a computer machine, I don't know how you set the upper tension, sorry to say.

Sometimes it can help to unthread and rethread a machine, and I don't know why it sometimes works, but it's a simple thing to try.

But if the upper tension isn't set correctly for the work being done or if the tension mechanism, however that's handled on a computer machine, isn't working correctly, this is what happens. Bird's nest is a good way to describe it.

Sometimes lint built up in the bobbin case can cause this symptom too, but I'd assume you keep this area clean. One reason I haven't yet invested in a computer machine is because problems like this often don't have such simple solutions as on the mechanical machines.
