well my friend thats because each xbox 360 drive is unique for each console so it only works on the original console, to solve this you have to flash the firmware from the old drive and put it the new one, there are many sites explaining it just google it.

I have an Xbox 360 and I need more space what do I have to do for more FREE space

Many of Xbox 360 gamers have a 4GB hard disk space and as we play different games on Xbox 360, a lot of updates, patches, temporary files are generated. As time passes by, you might not be playing that particular game any more but the space is still occupied.
So in this How to series today, we will learn how to clear up some space on your Xbox 360. Just to make sure, this process will not remove any of your Console Updates or any downloadable content or DLC from your Xbox 360. Also, it will not remove any gamertag which you have created on your console or any saved games which you have played.
Steps :
  • Go to System Settings > Storage. This will list down all the storage Hard Disk, USB or anything else.
  • Select one of the storage and press Y on your controller.
  • This will open up the device option which allows you to Rename, Format, Clear System Cache & Transfer Content.
  • Select Clear System Cache and it will clear the cache for all the storage on your Xbox 360.
It basically start the System Maintenance of Xbox 360 so make sure you do not turn off the device in between. Depending on various factors it may happen in few seconds or couple of minutes.
Just remember that it will remove game updates also and if you play a certain game for which the update was downloaded, you will be prompted again.

Apart from this, look for games which you do not play any more and delete them. Most of the times space is occupied by trial games which you had downloaded before and forgot to delete it.

a new way to clear the Xbox 360 hard drive cache. Previously, you needed to reset your Xbox 360, and hold down the A button as a game was booting up. This new code allows you to clear the entire hard drive cache:

Go to the system blade and then select memory. thumb_hd.jpg
Press Y on the HD symbol and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a messsage will appear saying: Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?

My xbox 360 will not read games it says open tray or play dvd how can i fix it

Clear the system cache:
1. On the console, go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings.
2. Select Memory.
3. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller.
4. Select Clear System Cache. If Clear System Cache is not available, use the following controller button sequence to clear the system cache: X, X, left bumper, right bumper, X, X Note If you don't see a system maintenance prompt on the screen, try pressing the button sequence again.

Try playing discs without the hard drive in:
1. Turn off your console.
2. Locate the hard drive on your console.
Press the release button on the hard drive and lift the hard drive from the console.
Turn on your console.
3. Try to play a game disc.

If this resolves the problem, you will need to replace the hard drive. If not, do the same thing for your memory units. If it works without them, the they may be bad.

Cant play my scooby doo game

sometimes it can happen that you download a patch for a game, but this patch is corrupted. In this case you will have to clear the cache in your xbox and then try again. It will most likely tell you that there is a new patch and ask if you want to apply it. To clear your cache you Go to the My Xbox blade and then select memory (the last option to he right)
select your hard drive, and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a messsage will appear saying: Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices? chose YES and this will clear your cache in a matter of seconds. turn your system off then back on and try playing the game. good luck.

Clear hard drive cache Turn on the Xbox 360 while holding A to remove old cache files from the hard drive. Note: Your saved games and media will stay intact, however downloaded game updates will be deleted. They can be restored by playing the game again while Xbox Live enabled.
Enter the "System" menu and select the "Memory" option. Highlight the hard drive, then press Y. The Device Options screen for the hard drive will appear, with "Rename" and "Format" options. Press X(2), LB(2), X(2) to clear the cache. Alternately, enter the "System" menu and select the "Memory" option. Press Y for device options, then press either LB, RB, X(2), LB(2), X(2) or X(2), LB, RB, X(2), LB, RB. You will get a message stating that the system is performing maintenance.

Fallout 3 Freezing Problems???

Fallout 3 freezing is an unfortunately common problem. A lot of people have reported that clearing the game cache on your 360 will fix it, so that's what I would suggest you try first.

To do this:
  1. start up your 360, then take out the Fallout 3 game disc.
  2. Hold down the A button on the Player 1 controller
  3. Put Fallout 3 in your 360, then load the game
If this doesn't fix it, the next thing you could try is to clear the system cache. This will clear the entire cache for your 360, including the automatic updates (though downloaded content, save files, and user dats will be untouched).

To do this:
  1. Navigate to System > Memory
  2. Highlight the hard disk in the list and press Y
  3. Press X, X, LB, RB, X, X
If done right, you should see a message asking, "perform system maintenance?" Proceed with this, and it will clear all the cache data out and revert Fallout 3 back to version 1.0 (it should ask you to update once you load the game)

Hope this helps - I've had my share of frustration with Fallout 3 glitches.

You could also try to clear the Cache to do this access 'memory' in the system blade, and then highlight the hard drive. Now press:

Y, X, X, LB, RB, X, X.

The following message should appear: "Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?"

Accept and the Cache should be Cleared, YOUR SAVES WONT BE AFFECTED, BUT you will have to download again any Game Updates you previously had...

This option is not intended for public use, but ive read it helps on hard drive issues...

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK (even if it isn't really dangerous)...

Freezing during oblivian

Oblivion uses the Xbox 360 hard drive to cache game data and in some cases the info stored on the hard drive can get fragmented, slowing down the game's performance. Bethesda has already found out a way to fix the issue. Here is the official word: Oblivion uses the Xbox 360 hard drive extensively to cache (copy and reuse) game data. This is done to optimize all loading the game does. It has been found in rare cases on some Xbox 360s that the cached data can get overly fragmented. This exhibits itself by the game taking a long time to load anything from menus, dialogue, sounds, objects, levels, and more. To solve this problem, reset your Xbox, and hold down the A button as the game is booting up. If any button is held while Oblivion is loading, it will clear its hard drive cache, and create a new one. Once you see the ?Bethesda Softworks? logo video, the game is already loaded, and the cache should have been cleared. Note, this does not effect your game in any way other than loading. You will not lose any saved data.
