How do I loosen the blade nut on my Ryobi 4 cycle edger? Which way does it turn??

Try heating the nut slightly with a gas torch and continue to turn counter clockwise as the manual suggests to undo.
The heat will expand the nut slightly making it easier to undo, don't overheat the nut as this could damage it.
check their isn't any locking washers holding the nut in place, bend the washer out of the locking position if this is the case.
Try using a larger spanner or extend your handle to give you maximum leverag

Change an edger blade

Start here to find User's Manual. Sometimes the nut/bolt holding the blade on is a Left Hand thread and requires CW turning to loosen and remove. Not sure on this model.

To remove the circular saw, which way do you turn the nut hold the blade on the saw?

For any saw blade or grinding wheel, the rule is this. Pushing against the points of the teeth should be the direction that tightens the nut. So you must loosen it in the same direction that the blade spins. For example, if your saw blade is on the right side of your saw, then the blade spins counterclockwise, and the wood pushes against blade clockwise - so you turn it counterclockwise to loosen it (which is in the same direction that the blade spins.). If the blade is on the left side of the saw, you loosen it clockwise. Good luck, Al K

Unable to get nut off of a craftsman convertible edger.

Lock on the blade with a pair of ViseGrip Pliers, then try turning the nut, they are installed quite tight, also try clockwise, maybe left hand nut.

Trying to remove Blade from gas edger ---- very tight. To loosen, do I force left or right turn?

All the trimmers/gras cutters have blades rotating clockwise. So, to loosen, you have to turn the bolt left. If too thight - use WD-40 Spray. It puts some grease :)

Can't remove the nut holding blade on. Which way do I remove

Get some WD-40 and spray the area around the nut then let it sit for a few hours. This will get into the threads and loosen any rust that is compounding your problem. Now get a good wrench and look directly at the nut. Left is loose and Right is tight.

How to change an old edger blade

Take a pair of vise grips and clamp the blade to a 2X4 for more leverage. Some old edgers had a left hand thread.
