Question about Electrolux Dishwashers

1 Answer

Electrolux EI24ID30QS Dishwasher over fills, and eventually trips the float in the tray below.

I cleared out the water at the bottom as the motor was running constantly. I pushed the float down and it stopped the motor. That part I figured out. Now, where is the water coming from. I noticed when I ran it again that the water continued to fill. Is there an overfill float somewhere? If so, where? I have very limited access to this machine. I can't see anything on the right hand side where the drain motor is.

That float switch is sticking, a common issue. Do this, pull the float and shaft out and reinstall several times to free up the micro switch that turns off the water supply valve.

I am not sure where to find that float. I looked it up on line, but can't seem to find out where it is located in this machine. I can see the float in the pan that prevents the machine from leaking...that one is working as it is supposed to. I have see pictures of other machines and the float you are talking about, but I don't see anything like that. Can you tell how to find/access it for this specific machine?

Ei24id30qs Electrolux dishwasher, drain pump won't shut off until it times out. tech manual refers to a level switch but schematic does not show it. Is it integral to the drain pump?

Not sure if this is same as my (older) dishwasher, but mine has a float switch ( a piece of styrofoam which triggers a microswitch) which sits in the bottom pan. As soon as any water accumulates here, the pump keeps running. I then get error code 30.

Dishwasher will not fill with water

If there's no water entering your dishwasher, check these:

Water-inlet valve
Float switch
Water-inlet valve The water-inlet valve lets water enter the machine. If this valve is defective, you need to completely replace it. It's usually located behind the lower access panel on the left or right side. It's the device with the main water line (usually copper) from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it.

Float switch The float switch is a small electrical switch that's located right below the dishwasher "floor." Above the switch, on the inside of the dishwasher, is a plastic cylinder that floats up as water fills the dishwasher. If this switch is defective, or if the plastic float gets caught or trapped in the raised position, the water can't enter the dishwasher. If the float switch is defective, you need to replace it.

Whats making carb flood with gas after bike is started and runs just a min or so then gas runs out carb over flow hose. I have replaced carb float and jets are all clean.

Hi Paige, Seems like the problem is where the float and needle meet, The needle and seat let the gas into the bottom of the carby and as the gas rises the float rises as well pushing the needle up into the seat slowing the gas flow into the bottom of the carby.... As the motor's using the gas in the bottom of the carby the float's lowering and the needle lowers as well allowing gas into the carby, If the part of the float that meets the needle is bent down slightly it's going to let more gas into the bottom of the carb because it's not pushing the needle up when it should, YOU NEED TO BEND THAT PART OF THE FLOAT UP SLIGHTLY TO STOP THE GAS COMING OUT THE OVERFLOW.... I hope you know what I mean....CHEERS..

Water is collecting at the bottom of the fridge under the salad trays constantly

Whenever that happens on our fridge we find that the drain out the back is blocked. Have a look inside the fridge on the back wall, you may see some guttering that guides the inside moisture to a hole. That hole drains to a pan on top of the motor. Heat from the motor evaporates the water. I have always managed to clear ours by poking a bit of flexible wire down the hole. It's not a frequent occurrence, probably 7 or 8 years between blockages.

Drain pump running as in flood protect mode even with door open, At first I thought the float was sticking due to sludge deposit.

The main controller and circuit board may have a short. Switches take their instructions from the main board and if a power surge or power outage occurs, one or more diodes, resistors or capacitors are faulty.

I have a neff dishwasher 5 yrs old enr number is s5543x2gb/17 and fd number is 8210 and the pump is constantly running.I have tried the reset option in the manual and this does not stop the cycle or pump...

The reason your pump is running continuously is that the "anti-flood" protection system has been activated. This is normally due to water having leaked into the bottom of the dishwasher under the washing compartment. It could also be due to a faulty anti-flood microswitch, but the first problem is more likely.

In the bottom of the washing compartment there is a "float". Look for a dome/cylindrical shaped protrusion rising from the floor of the washing compartment. With the dishwasher on and the pump running, push down on the float and the pump should stop. If it rises back up and the pump starts to run again, then you have a leak somewhere in the bottom of the washer. If it stays down or it already down as far as it will go, then it's more likely to be a faulty switch.

Either of these potential faults can only be fully confirmed by removal of the dishwasher from under the counter and removing some of the panels to get access to the components under the washing compartment.

After testing the float, if the pump continues to run, you should to turn off the power and the water supply to the dishwasher. The problem then needs to be investigated by someone who is competent to identify the cause of the leak or replace the float microswitch, depending on which is the problem.

I have a Bosh Logic dishwasher SGS65L12GB/04 The other day it got to 1 min left and would not stop pumping out water and continued even with the door open. After 5 mins playing around it started working...

Hi Jonathan,

Welcome to FixYa.

Your float may have got stuck or it's possible that you have water leaking into the bottom of the washer. In the bottom of the wash compartment, next to the drain you will find a plastic dome/mushroom (the float). You might need to rotate the bottom spray arm to see it.

Turn the washer on so that the pump starts to run, open the door and push down on the float. This should stop the pump running. When you let go of the float, if it rises back up on its own, then it's almost certain that you have water in the bottom of the washer. If this is the case please post back for further assistance. If the float stays down, then it may have simply got stuck.

Please try this simple test and post back with the results.

Fault code 30 has come up on my dishwasher how do i fix it

-30 is a leak in the system and is filling up the drip tray at the bottom. The float is attached to a micro switch and will halt the program and start the pump to drain the washer. You can tell by feeling in under the tray for water.
