@alexandercre did you source the broken part? I have had the same problem for a long time, the projector got shelved and left to collect dust.

@projdoc can you recommend a site / store which sells these for a benq mp612.

    Regards,
    Peter

T3. Why does it sometimes not focus and take the shot unless the lens is fully zoomed in or out?

You may have a cracked or broken contact ribbon connector in the lens. Does it work OK in manual focus? if it does then the ribbon may be the problem. It'll need a repair job.

The kit lens has stopped auto focussing all together, just makes a noise every now and then.

Two possible reasons ... A: the ribbon cable which runs from the rear mount contacts to the mid barrel has either cracked or broken (this eventually happens with continued zooming at some point in its lifetime) B: the focussing gear cog has small particle such as sand or broken plastic debris which prevents auto from fixing to focus point.
Solution is to try using a blower from rear at full extension to see if it is debris ...or inspect ribbon cable.these are readily available on eBay as replacement spares.

Canon Rebel XSi won't autofocus and makes grinding sound

There is nothing that auto-focuses except the circuit in the body - all the motors, gears etc. are in the lenses. If this is a 18-55 lens then more than likely the long shaft gear has broken teeth - a very common problem.

I have a canon 100mm macro EF 2.8 lens. When I attached it today to my camera (EOS 400d) it will not auto focus correctly. The working sound it makes is even a different sound to the normal focusing...

Your 100mm lens autofocus not working.it may be due to autofocus flex cable inside the lens damaged. It is replaceable part. You may have to contact service technician. However when you switch to manual mode it should focus & click. Try it.

It is making a constant strange noise when it is turned on. does it mean it is broken?

Not necessarily.
This camera has an auto lens. Which means it will focus automatically every second, which makes this clicking sound. You can turn this option off:
1: Go into the menu
2: Chose option Cam Settings
3: Switch AUTO focus to single lens and click OK.

Lens doesn't go in or out - just whiring sound and focus error message

these are really small parts & tend to pop out of place with little impact, you can take the lens apart & pop the out of place piece back in if it's not broken

Sony 18-70 kit lens vibrates badly

This is a lens problem, the AF motor of the lens is trying to engage the gears. Sometime it works, sometimes it does not... It happened to my sigma 70-300. The only solution is to have it repaired. If under warranty it should be free, if not.... might be cheaper to buy a new lens.

This is exactly my problem.

Focus is stuck - could be sand or something in the focus gears. That's the weak spot for these lens. Contact your local Olympus service center or any other camera service center or me at toms.safranovs@gmail.com

Sounds like you have two problems, both which mean bad news. The clicking could be a broken gear in the lens unit or off track lens.
The colors may be caused from a bad ccd or sensor internally.
