Keeps losing connection

Most likely causes are: Your router is to far from the computer..try to move nearer. There is an obstacle in the building that causes the drop. Walls, metal objects like fridges or filing cabinets are likely culprits. You have a device that is near the router transmitting on the same frequency. Dect phones or microwaves...move router or device further away. There are other routers nearby transmitting on the same or close channels. Google, download and run a utility called INSSIDER, this will show other router and their frequencies. Find a channel where there are no other routers and change your router settings accordingly. If your not sure how to do this, please request another answer with that topic.

Router keeps dropping signal. I have to constantly unplug it and restart it. Reset button doesn't work. Yes, mi Internet connection is OK, I've checked it with my phones and by connecting the computer...

Hi ,

I got your issue, Since your router keeps dropping the connection , the best fix is to update the firmware on the router. Here is the link,

http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/306/session/L3NpZC9DRXppQW1maw%3D%3D/kw/f5d8236/r_id/166/sno/1

You have 4 different firmware version, select the appropriate version for Eg: If your version number of the router is ver:3000 then download v 3xxx and update the firmware on the router , that it will fix your issue.

With Regards,
Prema.

Just bought a dlink DIR 615 and I have to constantly be restarting it.

1. See if you have the router next to a cell phone, cordless phone, or microwave. If the router is in the basement this may drop connection.Move the router to the next upper floor.
2. release/ renew the ip with ipconfig
3. Check with the ISP that there are no cable or drop problems at your premise.

Router keeps dropping connection

the problem might be with your dsl line. Check to see if it happens with all phones, sky and non broadband equipment removed from your phone sockets. if it still drops contact your isp.

Wireless internet drops when I answer/make a call through a wireless phone. Internet in a PC with ethernet still works during calls.

What is the frequency of your phone? Most routers has 2.4Ghz frequency and if your phone has the same frequency then they will interfer with each other. Place your wireless phone away from the router. Much better if they are NOT on the same location.

When the phone rings the computer is bumped off att 2wire router

the router and cordless phone might be working in the same 2.4ghz frequency, try to keep the phone as far from the router as possible. and change the w/l channel in phone or the router so as to reduce the interference.

Having trouble 2Wire 1800hg router and Vista connectivity issues; dropping internet. Any ideas?

It could be a number of things. Most likely is interfearence. It could be caused by a router near your home that in using the same channel.Log into your router or use the 2wire control panel on your computer and change your channel to 11 or 1 .Also mixed mode wireless settings can be problematic.Try using 802.11b, 802.11g or 802.11n.   Another cause are 2.4 ghz cordless phones that use same frequency as the router.
Other things can wack it out as well like a microwave or if you are moving the notebook around the house the ductwork in your home could block the wireless signal.
I've had the same trouble for weeks. I broke down and bought a Belkin Wireless N router and had no trouble since.
Sorry for the long winded answer.

Dropped Calls on Skype

Try to change the channel of the router. If you are using a cordless phone, you need to change it to a handset phone because that will cause interference and it will drop your internet connection

Losing connection with WGR614 v6 router

Well, glad I found someone with the same problem, the answer will certianly surprise you.
The answer is cordless phones and satellite interent.
if you have cordless phones and/or satellite internet it will lose signal.
They run on the same frequency.
To fix it log into your router, goto wireless settings, then check the box for enable channel settings. You may have to reboot the router and PC.
Should help.
Good luck and have a happy new year.

Dropping internet connection

Where is your exact location?  You listed ATT DSL so I assume you have ATT DSL as your provider is this right?

I had them for years and I had the same problem.  But its not your setup or your equipment, it is your service provider. You may be on the fringe area of the line signal.  Any drop of power in the line which is already low voltage will cause it to drop out.  The more customers using it the slower it will go.

All you can do is this:

1. check all the house phone lines for aging. If old replace the lines because they cause noise in the lines which degrades the DSL signal.
2. Check the connections at the phone box for signs of corrosion.  Clean the contacts and wiring and reconnect.
3. Make sure you have filters on "ALL" your phones.

4. AFTER you do this( you have eliminated any issues with your equipment)  then contact your service provider and tell them you are getting dropped connections daily.  They should send some one out within a few days to check the signal strength.  They also can check it while you are on the phone with them but not as effectively as them coming out.

Good luck
