How to clean the idle air control motor

You need to remove iac valve from the throttle body. The iac valve located on throttle body.Be careful while removing iac valve, its spring loaded, so you dont loose any spring. As the spring may jump out.You will need throttle clearer or you can use electric cleaner or brake cleaner liquid. Its easily available at local auto parts store. ------- For more details about diagrams and how to clean iac valve, click the link below:--- ---------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I have a craftman 4 cycle mini tiller, running to slow. need to run at a faster speed. do not where to adjust.

If the carb has the "fixed" throttle control. Find the governor control lever with the small, long coiled spring attatched to it in the middle. It may be hooked to a metal tab that is on the back carburetor bolt. Bend the tab to your left to increase set speed or to the right (towards governor lever) to decrease.

I had to replace the gas tank on my stihl km 110r. After I replaced it the throttle is locked on high the moment I pull the start cord. It runs on nearly full power and then after a while starts to cut out...

the return spring on the carburator is come undone. this should be a light spring that pulls the butterfly closed and pulls against the wire from the throttle control and the arm that hooks the butterfly to the auto throttle advance. look for a loose spring and then make sure that both ends of the throttle control cable move and are hooked up. you should see the butterfly on the carb. move back and forth when you change throttle position.

I have a lawn vacuum which uses a B&S 129882-1936-d1 engine. I can start it on one pull, but then it quickly dies. I've checked and have airtight seal. WHat I can see is that the throttle cable...

I'm surprised you can't move the linkage yourself. The spring is attached to an arm that goes back under the cowling. That are has a blade on it the sits in the airflow of the motors cooling fan. As the motor runs faster the blade causes more tension on the spring and changes closes or opens the carburetor a little. The throttle cable and the fan set the position of the carburetor. Check to make sure the the blade up in the airpath has not somehow gotten jammed. Also the choke setting can cause the problem you describe. Make sure it's linkage is not binding somehow...

Have hooked spring at throttle to govenor but now seems to stiff. did i get it hooked to the wrong place? it's on a maxim tiller 5 hp briggs 130202 3131-01

on a b/s 5hp the small governor spring goes on a thing that has two ears in it.take the tank back off and as you bring it back in place you will take the gov. spring and turn the top part of it sideways to slip over the ears of the spring holder.when you have it on the spring should be below the holder with the top of the spring in a groove that is between the ears.make sure the white kill wire is out of the way of the throttle cam.this should have the governor spring on correctly.

What connects the throttle linkage to the carburator? is it a spring or rod

It's actually a combination of both. There should be a small rod at one side of a small plate, (which acts like a cam) and a spring on the other side. The throttle cable pulls the plate and rod, expanding the spring at the same time. When the cable is relaxed the springs pulls the linkage back.

Honda mini tiller stalls

Sounds to me like your main fuel jet is clogged if it will idle (different fuel supply) but not run with open throttle. When you open the throttle the engine gets more air and not enough fuel and quits.

Solution: Open (disassemble) the carburator and spray carburator cleaner through every orifice. Make sure you actually get cleaner THROUGH all holes. You've no doubt got fuel "varnish" in the jets from letting the equipment sit idle for long periods.

Prevention is the key: Always use a fuel stabilizer (Stabil) in your fuel. Mix as described on teh package for the "long term storage" concentration — generally double the dose of "normal" concentration and you'll minimize future problems.

Poulan 3400 chainsaw throttle trigger

Its a missing or broken spring in the handle(trigger). If you look inside the handle you should see a circular spring around the post of the trigger. This spring returns trigger to idle position. If its missing or broken the trigger won't spring back.
