Re: lost of light in screen

Good morning!
Sounds like you need a new inverter for your backlight. Or, possibly the backlight, itself.
Oh! Be sure to verify that you have not accidentally turned down the brightness on the screen. ;o)

Acer aspire one zg8 screen problem

when the inverter is the issue the screen will not light up at all ...and only shadows of the image can be visible in the light ..The fact that you do not have an image at all ...and the back-lights seam to kick in randomly ...seams more like a contact issue ..Check the plug of the screen and see if there are any problems there..or check for broken cables ..
(exclude the video card problems cause you have secondary image all is good..)
the plug is somewhere under the front the left ..

The laptop screen freezes and fades out slowly becoming darker and darker. Moving the screen however helps restore it back to life for a short while

Ok, because the screen gets better for a little while if you move it, this might just be a simple connection problem. The thing is, and it is quit common on notebooks, is that the data cable linking the screen to the motherboard sometimes get a little loose. Hence, the screen still works, but not properly.

I would suggest that you open up the unit and just make sure that the data cable is plugged in correctly. If you do not feel comfortable doing this yourself, you can take it to your nearest computer repair shop.

Hope this can be of help.

Kind regards

The screen on my dell inspiron 1545 64 bit windows vista is darker on one side than the other and sometimes flickers and progressively gets darker, could it be a driver? or something that i can fix online...

The CCFL [cold cathode Fluorescent] bulb is dying. Manufacturers use these thin 'tube' style lights at the edges of your display for laptops and LCD monitors & TVs. Don't let it go too long or you will possibly destroy the inverter that provides the power to light the bulb.

Dell Inspiron screen coming off at hinges

It's a common problem with Dell Inspiron 1501 / 6000 / 6400 models. So tighten all screws on the bottom, on the back (where power cable connects), then remove cover on top of the keyboard and tighten screws there, then remove screen bezel and tighten screws there - here is how:
then put everything back.

The problem with Lcd screen is that if you see line through them there are three possibiltys 1Your cable connection from the laptop to the screen is loose 2 the inverter is failing which mostlikly you will see backlite flashs and then blank screen or pixcels seem to get lost and return 3 bad screen pixcel lost in hole sections or line or lines than a total lost of screen chech all the connections first .connect a monitor to the laptop and see if you have the same problem if so it may be the video card on the board

Screen getting darker

your case is the back lights inverter or lamp damage, you have to send to repair, find a laptop hardware specialist to do that, my repair cost (lowest)
1) repair the inverter board if repairable, $50
2) change the new inverter board $80
3) change the lamp $60

Sounds like a hardware problem with the screen. Try switching the video driver temporarily to one of the Microsoft standard drivers (like VGA STANDARD) and check if the problem is any different. If it is, then it is a software driver problem. If the problem is the same, switch the driver back and try this.

These solutions may damage your machine, so do so at your own risk.

Get the machine running normally and then try the following tests, watching for the static on the screen to change (get better, get worse).

- Tap lightly on the sides of the screen unit
- Open and close the screen unit lid to the full extent in both direction
- *Very lightly* twist the base of the computer one way and another - lightly, just enough to put a little pressure on the case
- *Very lightly* twist the screen unit slightly by the corners - lightly, just enough to put a little pressure on the case
- Tap on the corners of the computer's base unit like knocking lightly on a door

If any of these physical tests change the static on the screen significantly, you have hardware troubles. If this is the case, either take it for professional repair, or, at your own risk, try this.

It is very likely that you either have an electrical short or that the ribbon cable connecting the screen to the motherboard has come partially unseated. Find a friend who knows about taking things apart, tell him you think this might be the problem, and ask him or her to help you lovingly disassemble the machine looking for possible hardware problems. Remember to do anything like this with the machine completely unplugged and the battery out, and as a last resort on a machine you need but cannot afford to fix.

Final hint: if tapping or twisting the screen lightly changes the static, you probably have a ribbon cable or other hardware problem *in the screen unit*, while if you have changes in the screen when you knock on the base unit, it is likely where the video signal cabling enters the motherboard.

Good luck.

Screen light off

Back light has failed or the inverter or connector come loose. A repair shop job, unless you are up to taking it apart to check the inverter connector from screen to body of the computer Is it exposed or concealed in the hinge? If exposed try a little wiggle. But repair shop I reckon
