Question about John Deere Garden
I have a John Deere GT225. The hydrostatic drive just suddenly quit. I had just backed it up,shut it off, took the trailer off,got back on & started it up but it wouldn't go forward or reverse. Fluid levels are fine. There had been no clutch chatter or lurching to give any indication of trouble. HELP! I need my tractor back.
Had same thing happen to my gt225. The drive pulley nut had loosened allowing splined pulley to strip on shaft. A new pulley may solve the problem of the shaft splines are ok. My JD guy said to get a new pulley and if it slips to tack weld it on. He thought new pulley would work. I did not find the problem until I took the other tranny out and I already had a replacement, so the old tranny less a new pulley is sitting on the shelf!

Sounds like your linkage is disconnected, With the tractor off raise the seat and back panel (if possible) and work the shift and look for failing linkage.
