SOURCE: I have a flo master xp2 / 48 frame / 230V / 2.5 hp

You shorted the 230 lines at the motor terminal board. If you are certain you have reset any and all breakers feeding the spa and that the 230V is getting back to the pump motor then you blew the winding leads as you shorted the motor. While it is possible a motor shop could repair the leads it is far more likely the damage caused will cause the price to be that or more of a replacement motor.

SOURCE: My Spa needs a new pump. A Max E Pro Pump 2 speed

Yes, and I recommend and install them. Look at the voltage and Amperage information on both as well. It is typical to see 220V @ 12.9 amps. If you find this on both motors, they are the same size anyways.

It would take a while to explain, but motor manufacturers can rate a motor @ 1.5HP or 2HP and it can be the same motor. They use a rating called a "service factor" to screw around with the actual HP of a motor. But even if the 1.5 is a 1.5, it would be sufficient.

SOURCE: I was told that the Aqua Flo Master Xp2 Spa pump

I responded to the previous question in regards to the motor only. The xp2 does not have the strainer basket that the max-e-pro has . If this was a regular hot tub, the xp2 would work great, if this is above ground, then you do need a pump with a strainer basket. Again the xp2 will not work for an inground hot tub as the set up is different than an above ground unit.

sounds like you need a new seal kit if it is leaking between the plastic pump housing and the motor. this seal kit is a model PS-200 and will run you about $30

My Flowmaster XP2 will start and then immediately shuts off. Any suggestions on how this might be repaired?

If it hums and quickly shuts off but doesn't turn then it is often caused by a bad capacitor. It might also be caused by something stopping it from turning. If it turns and then shuts off then there could be shorted windings in the motor or too much friction in the motor or pump. I hope this helps.
