My Motorola Radius CP200 won't charge. Kept it on the charger, but it just blinks red. Won't turn on or even make a noise. HELP

Typically when the charger flashes red you have one of the following conditions:
1) The battery is simply too low to charge. Leave it on the charger for a few hours to see if it resolves. If it is a new battery return the battery for a replacement.
2) Your battery is not making good connection. Clean the battery and charger contacts with a pencil eraser. Check your contacts in the charge itself to make certain one isn't damaged or broken.
3) Your battery has an internal short. Test the battery on another charger to see if you get the same result. If so, replace the battery. 4) If you have a charger problem, the best test is to try another battery in the charger. Reminder: be certain the insert is turned the correct direction for the battery you are using.

If your model number starts with AAH50R... the answer is yes. The CP200 could be programmed to match your RDU.

If the sound is continuous, like a long tone humming, it is possible you are on a channel which is not programmed. Try changing your channel knob to a different channel and see if the sound changes.

If the sound is not continous, and only happens upon pressing a button, we are not certain what you are experiencing without seeing the radio first hand.

If it were the battery you would get a low battery beep and then the radio would shut itself down. This can happen from a bad battery or a low battery. If this were the situation, you should check your charger and be certain the light comes on and stays on when the radio is placed on the charger. (Note: your radio should always be turned off when on the charger.) A quick test would be to swap the battery with a known good radio and see if you have the same problem. If so, you know it is not a battery or charging problem.

If none of these items help, send or bring the radio to a Motorola repair shop for a quick analysis.

Not any recalls on this product. However, here are a few tips which may help:
1) There are 4 types of CP200 batteries: Li-Ion, Li-Ion Slim, NiMH, and NiCD. Due to the differing thicknesses Motorola provides an insert which can be turned around to accommodate the battery (or batteries) you have with your radio. When you look at the charger you will see two plastic ears sticking up beyond the charge cup. When you squeeze these ears toward one another you can lift the insert up and out of the charger. Turn the insert around according to which battery thickness you have. Then snap the insert back into the charging base. Your battery should rest and depress the spring loaded charge contacts in the base.
2) The insert has rails which guide the battery into place. You can see on your battery sides there are grooves which match the shape of the rails. In the beginning when all parts are new you must be very purposeful to slide the battery into place, but as the battery and charger begin to have more use you will find it easier to slide.
3) The CP200 charger can accommodate a radio with a battery on it, or a battery alone. (Tip: Always be certain the radio is turned off while on the charger.)
4) The only issue we have every seen customers experience with the CP200 charger is from rough handling. An internal plastic piece which holds the charge contacts in place can be broken if users are very rough when putting the radio in the charger. This is rare, but is known to happen.

You did not mention if the yellow light was on the radio or the charger. If on the charger, the battery is bad or the charger has a problem. Troubleshoot with your battery and charger. Try charging the battery on a different charger, and if successful you likely have a bad charger. To troubleshoot the battery and radio, you can try the radio with a known good battery from a known good radio. Through this process of elimination you should be able to determine which item is bad, be it the radio, battery or charger.
Batteries have a 18-24 month life expectancy. Drop-in chargers can be prone to problems if debris gets in the cup or they are roughly handled causing cracks or breaks in the internal charge contact supports.
Clean your battery contacts on the battery and the charger with a pencil eraser to assure good connection.

The battery is no longer taking a charge properly and needs to be replaced.

It is seldom a CP200 loses frequencies/PL code settings. It is more likely the radio has a bad battery or another issue. The only way to reprogram the radio is by taking it back to a Motorola dealer, as they are all dealer programmable only. Sorry.

My Motorola Blur would not charge kept saying Connect Charger. I tried various power connecters including the Original one that came with the phone and the USB to no avail. This morning I took the phone apart and clean it and still would not recognize the charger.

Fix: I lifted up the connector where the charger plugs into on the actual phone and now it is making contact and appears to now be charging my phone.

You can re-charge your battery fully by the provide electrical charger for 6 hr , then you can try and send me status.
