I had the same problem with my Paloma a year and a half after installation...contacted Rheem\Paloma\Richman customer service (800-432-8373) and they recommened a local installer in my area. The technican diagnosed the problem as the "flow control valve"; he managed to get Rheem/Paloma to cover the part under warranty...I only had to shell out the money for the install.

Often, this is the result of a restriction of exhaust gases. This type of hot water heater must be adequately vented, (per installation specs). I found this out after taking a number of cold showers. :^( Two years later, and still counting, no more problems. :^)

SOURCE: water will not get hot

I had the same problem after only one year after i installed it. i called and gave them all the codes and they stepped me throught some diagnostic stuff i had to do on the remote control display and they figured that the mixing valve was stuck open and that is why it wouldnt get hot. they sent me a pdf file that showed me how to use white vinegar to clean the inside of the manifold and other parts including the valves. after i did this everything worked perfect. there was a lot of **** in there even with the screen filter. now it get real hot at a lower temp setting. hope this helps you out. check to see if your manifold gets real hot and if it is hot and after the mixing valve it is cold then that is your problem

Check the elements, if you have access to a meter to check them. If they are getting power to elements and you have no hot water.
The elements are not working correctly. I had some elements check out ok till the thermostat's turned on and the elements didn't heat.
Sounds like the elements are bad.

Raise temp above 120

Raising temperature above 120 degrees requires service call.
Or change dip switch settings and risk voiding warranty and causing service call expense.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Rheem-Tankless-water-heater.html#temperature

Earliest versions of Rheem tankless 2006-8 let you set temperature up to 140 degrees F using remote.
However the hotter setting caused error codes because the burner cannot keep up with both high temperature and large volume of hot water rushing through pipe. Especially in winter with cooler incoming water that must be heated more to reach temperature set point.
The burner simply cannot keep up.
So Rheem changed maximum temperature at remote control to tepid 120 degrees, which is not hot enough for folks wanting hot shower, or folks filling whirlpool tub because water in tub cools before tub fills.

E2 means hot water over shot, make sure to check boiler hot water system to make sure zone valve or control is staying closed when the call for boiler hot water to the water heater is isolated. Sometimes a zone valve will fail open or not close properly causing hot boiler water to constantly feed the water heater.

Our 606 reliance electric hot water heater has the letters a b c for the temp control not 120-160 degrees. On what letter a-b or c should the temp be set on to get 120 degrees

We will just assume that "a" is the lowest temperature
to correspond to 120 degrees, while "c" for 160 degrees.
So try setting it at "a" and feel the hot water that flow.
Or it could be the other way. Just feel the hot water that
flow. It will be done in a few minutes. I hope this will help
you.

Taco circ. should be bronze in color for domestic applications. If it is green, it's wrong. Average temp for hot water should be 120 degrees. Overheating of circulator may be the cause of premature failure.
