Why is my husky viking 170 skipping stitches

The most common cause of skipped stitches is a bent needle; the hook is not meeting up with the needle so a connection isn't made between bobbin and top thread. Try a new needle. If the skipping is consistent and a new needle doesn't help, it might need to be timed (call a tech).

A quick fix might be to change your needle. Even a slightly bent needle could cause havoc in the bobbin area. Hope it helps. Needles cost more that they did back in the day, but that sound is bad for your machine!

Chances are it will be the needle in the wrong way round or the wrong type of needle, if you can measure the length of the bed of the machine the metal part, tell me if the bobbin drops in the top or goes in the side and whether or not it is a round bobbin or long bobbin and I can tell you the model and help you further.

After taking only a few stitches, the bobbin thread becomes tangled and knotted. I've cleaned and oiled the shuttle and cover and adjusted the tension, but it still happens. Advice?

have you tryed changing the needle?
have you tryed changing the thread on top & bobbin area?
some thread & needle are not compatable--here's a tip I learned from a sewing expert
Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread
hope this helps

I have a husky lock 234D serger and no manual. how do i use 3 thread overlock? which threads do i use?

To use a 3 thread overlock, thread the overlooper; the underlooper and then use ONE of the needles. Removing the RIGHT needle will produce a 5mm or 1/4" seam. Removing the LEFT needle will produce a 3mm or 3/16" seam.

Husky 145

Usually when a machine is totally jammed, it's either (a) because a bunch of upper thread has gotten jammed into and around the bobbin assembly so thoroughly that the assembly can't turn at all, or (b) the needle is jammed down the hole so thoroughly that nothing moves.

If both of those places are clean and empty. . . then "Never mind!"
