I would check the line fuse to see if it is blown. It is located in the plug under the sliding access cover. Slide it towards the cord to open. If the fuse is good and you have it less than 5 years, you might be able to get the company to fix it for free since it has a 5 year warranty. 1800 234 0604. Hope this helps you.

Soleus Air FSH-40G fan would not start. The bad seems harder to rotate. what could have gone wrong? How to fix?

First unplug the fan for safety. Next add a couple drops of motor oil on the shaft that turns with the fan blade. Tip the fan blade at about a 45 degree angle when adding the motor oil. Spin the blade by hand at that same angle to allow the motor oil to flow down the shaft, inside where you cannot see the shaft. It should start turning by hand a lot easier now.

My dog knocked off my vornado which then broke a blade off my favorite fan. I was going to use epoxy to try to get the blade to stick back on. This would not work. The fan spins to fast to use glue. I sat and thought about it for awhile and came up with a solution rather then spending 39.99. I used epoxy to get the blade where it should be and let it dry..... then took a hot nail and poked a hole through each blade close to the center of the shaft.... and then took a zip tie and connected each zip tie to each other forming a ring around the shaft. This works very good and if you need to balance out the fan just place a small zip tie on the center and clip off close to the lock. Now you can use the LOCK as a balance for the fan. GOOD LUCK

Vornado very slow

Copied this from someone else who fixed his fan. Tried it and it made a world of difference. Spins free and easy, no more noise.

"I have had the same model for almost ten years, and have had to lubricate it twice - both times when the fan stopped rotating. It's obvious that Vornado never intended the bearings to be serviced, but if you're patient, it can be done. You must remove the front louver section (press the three clips inward gently). Then firmly pull the fan toward the front, off the shaft. Then remove the four nuts on the front of the motor housing - you'll note that the bolts appear to be free-floating, but that allows re-assembly after the bearings are lubricated. When the nuts are removed, firmly pull the front of the motor housing toward you. This may require a firm pull or GENTLE prying, as the rear bearing sometimes doesn't want to let go. When you have the front portion of the housing and shaft out, hold the housing and pull the shaft out of the front bearing. Again, this may require a steady firm pull straight back. When the rotor & shaft are free, you'll need some very fine emery paper to remove the varnish that's built up on the shaft (it's unmistakable where to clean the shaft.) And I never attempt to do anything with the front and rear bearing themselves - too much work, and cleaning the shaft does the job for me. Then clean everything up carefully and lubricate the shaft where it enters the bearings (and maybe a drop in the rear bearing itself.) I use a very fine machine oil that I bought at Sears, but I think any good oil would work. Then, it's re-assembly time - shaft into front bearing, shaft into rear bearing as the motor housing is put back together (lining up the bolts), four nuts on the bolts & tighten (firmly, no gorilla), press fan back on shaft (don't force it too far on - it'll stop when it's in the right place), plug in and check, re-attach front louver (just press - the clips will snap easily into place.)"

Fan won't run at all.

If you plug it in and turn it on, does it "humm".
If so, it is getting power. It could be the blades are stuck on something: do they turn by hand?
The motor could be dirty also, is the blade hard to turn?
It can be repaired by Vornado, or you can dis-assemble the motor and clean it.

Vornado Circulating Fan - motor will run but blades will not turn.

Does the motor spin, but the blade is not turning?
The motor has a D shaped shaft. If the hole in the blade that the shaft goes in is rounded, then the blade will spin. In that case you need a new blade. Vornado can supply that.

3 speed standing fan. #1 the blade barely rotates.#2 a little faster. #3 it starts slow then speeds up like it's going to take off. It also makes an annoying sound like it's rubbing on something or is...

It is the motor. Probably needs cleaning and lubrication.
You can send it to Vornado.
It is not hard to get apart, just draw a diagram of what color wire is what speed.
You "could" do it yourself.

Turn switch on to fan or air and motor just humms but will not start

The fan motor uses a capacitor to turn the motor and if the capacitor is bad the fan won't rotate. If you are handy you could remove the electrical panel and change the capacitor and it will work fine again.I have tested these fans by simply turning the unit on and spinning the fan blade by hand!!! if the fan operates then the capacitor is bad!!

Fan stopped. Turned on and spun blade but nothing, on any of the three settings. Bad capacitor? how do I test switch or motor windings with voltmeter? Thank you, Torrey

you can check the switch or motor by using an ohmeter for continuity test. connect the probes on each switch starting from common to no 1, 2, and so on. if the motor is okay, the capacitor is defective.
