Tv dead during lightning

Could be minor or maybe done for but here goes. Some flat panel TVs have the main power cord with one of those small transformers built into the plug end that converts 120volt ac to DC power. Output voltage should be listed on the transformer tag. You need to find someone with a voltage tester and see if the TV plug end is showing DC voltage. If not the complete power cord needs replaced. If that checks out-- the next thing is to remove the complete TV back cover and look for fuses right near the power plugs into the TV. The fuses should blow out first from a lighting surge. The problem is how much of a surge you got. It may have damaged the power supply board in the TV which may need replaced. Hope this helps

It sounds like a power surge damaged your TV. The best remady is to replace it. Check with your insurance agent to see if it is covered. When electronic components get hit with a surge or static electricity damage is done to them. We kn ow they will fail, we just do not know when.

Lecy blew tv wouldn't come back on change fuse in plug still no light on tv does 42" lg hd tv have a fuse internal.

Yes, TV's have an internal fuse on the power supply. All too often though more damage is caused besides a blown fuse or the fuse doesn't serve the purpose and the power supply is damaged. You can check and replace the fuse as necessary. If you need a replacement power supply, here is a list of vendors below. Have your TV model ready to help you find the part you need.

I replaced an apparent blown fuse, TV still won't power on.

Most likely your power supply is damaged and will need to be replaced. Sometimes, power supply manufacturers add additional "fusible resistors" to provide additional protection.

How to install a power supply in samsung 5033 plasma Tv?

If the power supply whicch was in the TV was damaged- the SMPS unit- then it must be replaced with the same type and specification so that the voltages to the various sections are not changed which can damage or malfunction the circuit.
So what is needed is to get the OE part of the Tv and the replacement job becomes easy as you need to remove the plug in connectors and replace.
Also test the TV with a protection circuit and if you notice any excess load checck on the drives in the motherboard for shorting.

We had bad weather lights went out ..had tv plugged into a power surge plug ...now that i have power back tv wont come on

Some will say a surge protector will save electronics. I can tell you they may not help at all. A power surge is extremely fast and can over ride the surge protector. If you think you can repair this TV, I would certainly remove the back cover and inspect. Occasionally the only problem for repair is to replace the main fuse. Remember, this happens rarely. Most cases after a surge the TV will need to be inspected by a TV tech. Almost anything, in a power surge will damage the TV. There is no certain area that will not be damaged, expect it any where. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

No sound on wii

Hello :

1: Make sure you have the volume on the TV turned up and the audio-video connections plugged into the same-colour plugs. Sound only kicks-in once you are at the Wii menu. If this doesn't work, continue to step 2.

2. Test the Wii with another TV. If you have sound there, then it is possible that the HDTV's sound inputs plugs are damaged. Send your HDTV off for repairs.

3. If the Wii does not work with the other TV, then it is likely that the audio cables are damaged. Order a replacement from Nintendo (instructions are in the Wii user's guide)

good luck .

I have a 42 inch Vizio tv and moved it to the bedroom from the den. I hooked it up to the cable (sat) like it was in the Den and it blew a cable line out. The socket was updated but now the tv plug got hot...

'probably the main transformer, bridge rectifiers, fuses, on the tv power circuit are damaged......along with some other components. Depending on the level of damage the board may, or may not be repairable. If so you may want to get a tv technician to install a replacement power board.

Outside transformer blew, now TV doesn't work

I hope is only a fuse and it will not be hard to find it should be close to where the power cord goes in and it has to be replaced with the same amps and size.Make sure the set is not plug in whe you remove the lower back and once you replace it put the back cover on and plug it in,if more damage is present it will blow up again right away or it will blow up when you push the power button,I hope it doesn't but if it does you will need someone qualified to check the rest.Be careful
