Your inverter board, the one that powers the leds, is bogus and needs replacement.

Hi Richie, any ideas where I can find that part? Thanks, Mike

  • richie46 May 01, 2017

If you have the board part number you can look for it on ebay or go to site. Read that this tv suffers often from led strip failure.

Is there a way to test the board before buying a new or used one? And I guess the same for the led strips. Thanks again

Nowadays, repair is a lost art given all of the complicated electronics and un solderable parts. What they do nowadays is identify the possible bad board, replace it, cross their nutsacks, and hope that does it! And they charge a fortune for non existent labor on top of the part expense.
That set has on going issues with the led strips responsible for lighting up the screen. So the issue has to be either with the led strips or the electronics that power the strip. U will have to do some research on google and see if that set has a separate inverter board to power the leds. Sometimes the inverter circuits are part of another board. If it were my set and I really did wanted to get it going again, I would get the best prices for the strips and electronics, and maybe go with the cheaper of the two first, and then go for the second route if plan A does not work.
Your third alternative is to walk away and replace the set with a newer model that comes with a warranty. The TCL sets are very good sets at really good prices with built in Roku & 4K (not that you will see it since you have to be an alien or have a screen of at least 100 inches in diameter to see the difference in a pu-ic hair!) When you purchase audio/video gear, if you cannot hear or see the difference it is stoopid to pay extra.

SOURCE: we just set up our 37 in sharp and get no picture

I had this problem on my 42" Philips. Just got it yesterday and worked fine on the tv stand. As soon as I mounted the TV to the wall via wall mount system, I had the exact same issue you did. Figured it out today.

The wall mount was putting pressure against the center of the back of the tv (tv set had a slightly rounded back plate, and the mount was a flat plate). As soon as I put spacers (part of the wall mount hardware set) between the wall mount braket and the tv so there was no contact except at the mounting holes, the tv worked fine.

My theory is the pressure pushed the tv back plate against some board components which caused them to overheat (no air flow); or put pressure on internal connectors. I dont know.

Hope this helps, may not apply to your situation.

Two things need to be checked. The ballast board and the T-con board. Shine a flashlight on the screen with the TV on...If you see a faint picture moving, then the T-Con board is OK. The ballast board for the white backlight is bad. If you don't see a faint picture, then the T-con board is bad. You can get parts here: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy

Our Hitachi tv turns on okay but the picture on comes in for 2-3 seconds and then the screen goes black. Last night the tv work just fine but this problem started today as I turned the tv on to watch...

I don't know what model you have,but... I have a 50v715 and it was doing the same thing and it turned out to be the lamp. So if you have not replaced the lamp in a while then it could just be it time. Hope this is helpful.

Blank screen beko lcd 26" lcd tv - sound ok (model no. L5A)

While you have sound, take a flashlight and shine it on the screen, look very close and see if you can see a dark video image.
Let me know what you see.
